My camera will turn on in the picture review mode, but it will not stay on when switched to the picture taking mode. The message I receive is: Turn the power off and on again. I turned the power off and on again several times with no luck.
The problem with your camera can be in optical (lens) unit. Part number is: 884875701 If you need more info please advice.

I just had my sony cyber shot do the same thing. I was in the middle of using it when I used the zoom. Now all I get is the message turn power off and turn it on again.....

I do not get the power on and then off message. my just does not power on. If I am in the picture view mode, all systems are go...but as soon as I switch to the picture/video 'maker', the camera just shuts off. It is not the batteries either. I've tried with 3 new sets. Help. Please
I have the same problem. I can review the pictures on my memory stick, but no longer can take pictures. It just shows a black screen when i put in it the "take picture" mode. I dont know what to do. I have had this camera for about 3 years and have never had any problems. I'm bummed.
When I turn on my camera I get the message NO FILE IN THIS FOLDER and if I awitch lever to take pictures the camera shuts off
My Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P41 has the same problem... It only turn on and stay on in review mode.. If i do get it to come on in picture taking mode it says my batteries are dead and shuts down again.. even though while it is in review mode it says my batteries are fully charged
