New Typewriter not working

We just bought this new typewriter. I have taken out the 2 yellow plastic things that are for packing. When we turn the machine on, the cartridge stops and the grinding noise starts and won't stop. Also, the printer ribbon seems too sit too high. Any suggestions? Thanks, Monique

Look for any packing material that would hold the printer still during shipping. There also might be a screw from the bottom to hold it still. With the power off and you manually move the printer L-R?

I have a brothers sx-4000 typewriter, i recently bought new ink ribbon. But for some reason my typewriter still does not print the letters at all. I know my typewriter is still good, I dont know why it...

There are two things that people mess up when changing printwheels and ribbons. Is that the ribbon is not in the guides properly. The other is that the latch the holds the type wheel is not locked in the forward position.

I put new ink in my typewriter and now the correction tape won't work?

If youb didn't remove the L/O tape you may have a very old ribbon or a non correctable one the feed knob should be yellow or orange.

Replaced Typewriter Ribbon & Now Correction Tape doesn't work

Is the ribbon that you installed a correctable one? It should have a yellow or orange knob to turn it. If that knob is blue, you installed a multistrike or non-correctable ribbon.

The only other thing is you have the correction tape in backwards

My IBM wheelwriter typewriter will not type..

Chances are that the plastic cap on the print solenoid is cracked.

They are available from us for 15.00 but a little tricky to install.

New typewriter

On the right side of the typewriter, just beneath the carriage (as you are facing the typewriter) there is a small metal lever which you need to push back. It is the carriage lock used to hold the carriage in place when it's being transported in the case.
