How do i fix keypad

Keypads will flash when new oven or when disconnected and setting are lost. First try setting the clock
  • push CLOCK--enter numbers--push CLOCK to see if keypad becomes operational.
If not, unplug, replug and try again. As for "fixing" keypad ....that is not likely to be the problem and even it it were, keypads are not user repairable. For further info, dial the the factory customer support phone number.

Replace keypad microwave pvm1870

You could probably replace the keypad yourself, as it most likely plugs in. Get the exact part number and have a search for it.

My stop/clear and start buttons on my touchscreen are not working rendering the unit useless

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.
This is a keypad problem. Most keypads can be replaced. Some are all in one control panel and keypad units. Without a model number I can not provide you with a source for a keypad / outer panel. I note you said "touchsreen" so it makes me wonder what Appliance we are discussing. Make and model number please and I will see how I can help with replacement parts or keypad testing steps.
Thanks,
Kelly

Numbers 4,7,8,9,0 and Beverage on pad do not work. Others do work, do I have to replace the oven? (Spacesaver JVM1440WH04) Over stove oven installed in Feb 2007, in use 4 months each year. This problem...

No you can have the keypad replaced. It may be something as simple as a dis-lodged keypad ribbon connection where it mates to the control panel recepticle. If you look here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/modelsearch.aspx?model=JVM1440 there are several model numbers it seems you did not provide all of the numbers but the keypad is the same. The key panel here is $75.00 http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/modelsearch.aspx?model=JVM1440 Then you add a service call or shop charge your looking at well over a $100.00 repair. Your call on how to proceed. Good luck.

Kenmore microwave model number 401.80084700 Displaying -SE-/-5E-

-SE- error means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

There are three ways you can get it fixed:

DE34-00178X SWITCH MEMBRANE $20.30
ref#53 membrane keypad
take yours off as in the video at our site, peel the old keypad off as in this handy guide with pictures , clean the surface, stick on the new keypad
order by part number here
(We can do this job for you for a total of $70.25, but as you can see, the other two options are more practical and economical)

DE94-01647A ASY CONTROL PANEL $39.01
ref#66 control panel frame with keypad
take yours off as in the video at our site, disconnect the keypad strip as shown here, move your circuit board to the new frame, reinstall
order by part number here

DE94-01648A ASY CONTROL, BOX $58.12
ref#59 complete control panel assembly with frame, keypad and circuit board
take yours off as in the video at our site, then install the new one
order by part number here

If these parts are not in stock, they should be available in about a week or so.

Start button on microwave does not work

Some numbers are missing off that model number. Would that be model 721.62622200?

(If not, please reply back with the correct model number off the tag)

If it's cooking with the programmed buttons, but Start is not working, it sounds like the keypad has failed.

The keypad for model number 721.62622200 is no longer available as a separate part.

So you'd have to buy the entire controller assembly, which includes the plastic frame, keypad, and circuit board, etc.

It is part # 4781W1M307A and it runs $110.10 at the Sears parts Web site.

Numbers 1,3, 4 and 6 no longer work

It's probably the keypad. The keypad is a thin plastic membrane type that is glued to the plastic control panel frame.

If none or only some of the pads are working, there may be some foreign substance on the circuit board, the keypad connection, or inside the layers of the keypad, the latter of which cannot be repaired.

Trouble is sometimes due to spray cleaner being sprayed directly onto the keypad. Cleaner should be sprayed on the cloth first, then use the cloth to wipe the keypad clean.

Never use an ammonia-based cleaner on plastic as the ammonia can attack and crack it.

A handy person can remove the control panel frame and see if there's any liquid inside on or behind the panel. If so, it is possible to dry it out, but often that does not work.

Another thing is to unlpug the power at the mains for several seconds. Plug it back in and see if it works. A reset may do it. At power-up, the display should flash or show a text
message. If not, a key may be stuck due to a foreign substance or a defective keypad.

We have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site. You'll find a link to our site in our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

If certain keys are not working, there may be some foreign substance at the point where the green or blue plastic strip from the keypad plugs into the circuit board. To check that:

1. Be sure the oven is disconnected from the power line while you are taking it apart.

2. The keypad connection is the green or blue translucent plastic strip that plugs into a connector near the edge of the board.

3. There are two tiny tabs (one on each side) of the connector that you can gently pull up on to unlock the connector.

4. Then the keypad strip will lift out. Clean both sides of the end of the strip with a pencil eraser or alcohol-based cleaner if you like, but do not use ammonia-based cleaner. Dry the end of the strip.

5. Put the keypad strip back in, making sure both sides are down fully.

6. While holding the strip down, push the connector back down to lock it.

7. Try the keys again with the door closed.

Also, you must have the door closed for the START button to work.

You can probably find an exploded view by entering your FULL model number here: http://www3.sears.com (the 3 is correct)

You can order Sharp parts from there or from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com
