Is it a Grohe or Hansgrohe shower head? If it is a Hansgrohe shower head the first thing to check is if the self sealing filter gasket is installed at the connection to the shower arm. Hansgrohe shower heads have a black self sealing filter gasket in the head that some people remove assuming it is a flow restriction device. It is only a filter and does not restrict flow unless clogged with debris. Next make sure the flow restriction device below the filter gasket is still installed. On some models removing the flow restrictor will cause water to be expressed from the air injection ports near the pivot ball. Feel free to contact me at Hansgrohe. 1-800-334-0455. it's possible sometimes you can get brand new junk. one question is the thermo coupler in the right postion? i would check to make sure that it is indeed picking up the temp like it should.
SOURCE: Grohe shower assembly leaking
hiit sounds as though the diverter valve is sticking in the mid position although you have turned it to the floor spout as you call it!!
Also it sounds as though the seals are possibly leaking causing the plasterboard (drywall) to get we, or possibly a joint may be leaking. Advice access the pip-work valve etc run shower & check with torch (flashlight) to see where its coming from?
Rectification work replace seals/repair leak...replace diverter valve assembly.

sometimes there are orings or gaskets that get tore in assembly one of those may be bad,or if it is around the threds you might try wraping teflon tape around the thred once or twice.hope this helps
SOURCE: leak where Grohe shower head attached to the threaded pipe
using a pair of vice grips wrapped in a soft towel( to prevent scractching) turn the shower head in a counter clockwise direction to remove it then apply liquid teflon (real-tuf) to the threads on the shower arm and tighten the shower head but dont over tighten it liquid teflon is more effective at sealing leaks than teflon tape and it can be wiped clean
