The display screen on the Microwave says "F6". Nothing we try seems to clear this from the screen. When we close the door to the microwave - the display screen still says "F6" and the microwave makes a buzzing noise. When we open the door the buzzing noise stops. None of the panel buttons work. Seems locked up. Any ideas?
F6 usually means a fault in the controller or keypad. You could try to unplug it for several minutes, then plug it back in. If it still fails, maybe you or a friend can disconnect the power cord, unplug the keypad strip internally, then plug the power cord back in and try it with the keypad still disconnected. If it does not fail again, you have a wet or shorted keypad and can dry it or order one. If it does fail again, the control board is bad. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 Sorry I didn't get to answer this before the bogus answer was posted. I've been tied up and away from the PC.
Have a tech look at it.your problem coudl be the high voltage cap or the diode.the door switch can be checked also, good luck.
