OSD menu on my Acer AL1715 suddenly pop up without any reason. Then it disappear after a few sec .. thats very annoying actually. It happens quite often recently, maybe 3 times in one hour .. Anyone has faced to similar problem ? Thanks for advices ..
I had a simalar problem with my Dell 2001FP. The issue is that there is false triggering of the switch; you need to open the front panel, and remove the swictch from the circuit by:
1) analyze the circuitl; its usally pretty simple - a voltage drop circuit.
2) disable the switch by either removing it with a solder gun or, simply by using a sharp blade and cutting the PCB track leading it to it, as I did.(much easier - and reversible!)
Fixed my problem.
Have found an Analog version of Acer AL1715 OSD version.. It only seems to appears when there is a fault.. How to activate .. When the annoying osd pop's up turn monitor off press and hold the button next to the Auto button; while holding button press the on button.the lcd light should flash amber then green. wait till monitor displays normal then press the menu button. The Analog osd version should be displayed. What to do after this ? Don't Know!!!!!!

if the OSD buttons does not work and you see a lock symbol appear, try to press the OSD menu button for about 10 to 15 secs and see if the lock symbol disappears. let me know how it goes and if it works, a rating/comment would be appreciated
You must reset the on screen display in the menu. Hold down the Menu button for at least 60 seconds. A menu list will appear on your monitor screen. Using the adjust button, press the arrows to enter the menu. Scroll down to the Reset section. On the right side of your screen, you will see an alternating Yes/No choice. When the Yes message flashes, press the Ok button. The menu should be reset and the flashing OSD control message should disappear. I hope it helps. I had precisely the same problem... I depressed the Menu Button for about twelve seconds or more and the menu actually finally popped up; and does so now every time I depress Menu! Hope this works for you.
Yep. Sounds like one of the buttons is shorting out and causing the icon to pop up. You can try canned air. If your good with tools, See if you can take the bezal(the plastic part around the screen) apart to clean the button contacts.
