Add a little Petrol-Gel Food Grade Sanitary Lubricant to the O-Rings, should have two (a small black one and an orange one) on the machine where the milk container and water spout connects. This will assist in creating a better seal. If either are missing then you found the issue. The O-Rings are critical to any pressure system, so keep them clean and lubricated. You can get Petrol-Gel at a restaurant wholesaler or Amazon.

If that does not work try descaling. You could have a stuck solenoid and descaling, 99 percent of the time, can free it. I say try to descale because you need flow through the water spout and you may have a 1 percent solenoid.

SOURCE: DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5500 when trying to make a

Had this exact problem a few times on a cleaned well maintained milk jug top with an ESAM5500M. Delonghi 'repaired' it by sending a new milk jug frothing top.

It's caused by milk fat deposits, the frother part on the milk jug may look clean but deep inside it's not. I clean mine with pipe cleaners, detergent and hot water and still it wouldn't froth.

The problem re-occurs for me every 6 months or so. You could buy the milk fat remover solution to clean it. Personally I just boil the whole milk jug frother in detergent and the again in descaling solution, that's fixed this problem twice now, although I think it will eventually corrode the 'o' rings on the frother, still cheaper than buying a new frother part each time though.

If it still doesn't work after that, the only other reason for this problem I found mention of was caused by a broken rubber seal where the milk jug fits to the machine. It's most likely to be milk fat deposits inside the frother though.

SOURCE: I have a Delonghi Magnifica

I purchased a unit second hand for my wife's birthday today. It's only 4 months old, got it home, tested it, same problem... No froth!

I've read all the posts here and all were very helpful troubleshooting guides however they did not solve the issue.

Understanding how the frothing mechanism functions is half the battle in figuring out the solution. It's a simple vacuum type system. No doubt you've read about checking the orings. This is definately the first thing to check however if this is not the reason then consider the following.

The larger of the white tubes that has the red and black oring inserts deep into its port on the tap. Why? It pushes steam past the milk pipe directly into the chrome frothing tube which causes a vacuum essentially drawing milk up it's hose creating the froth. What you can't see without further investigation is that on the underside of the tube centered between the red and black orings is a small hole. This hole is responsible for drawing the milk upwards. If this is blocked, and it probably is then no milk and no froth. Use a really small screwdriver to carefully clean the white tube both from the front and the little hole underneath.

So in conclusion. Any air leak between the red and black orings will prevent the vacuum required to draw milk up the tube and alternatively any blockage of the milk channel will also obviously prevent the flow into the frothing mechanism. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Delonghi Magnifica Coffee Maker the milk is not

You did not state anything about descaling, but every now and then, I also add water and descaler to the milk container and use the "Frothing" program to run through the water and descaling-solution (double-click the Cappuchino button).
I have also noticed that the first cup (and sometimes even the second) will produce less milk, and not as well frothed milk as later cups. My theory is that the machine is warmer when producing later cups.
If possible, you could try to run two-three frothings of plain water through before switching to milk. I realize this is inconvenient, but it could be worth testing this to see if it helps. We luckily have two milk containers and keep one filled with water just for the purpose of heating up (or whatever we do :) the frothing system before serving the first cappuchino.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Delonghi ESAM3500 with not froth milk. Water will

Hello there,
Make sure that the milk container lid is clean; rise it vigorously with hot water, Make sure that you are only using 2% milk and Make sure that it's cold 2% milk.
Once that is checked, and not to be the problem, then it requires you to replace the coupling block.
There are many possible points that you may have the leak. The pump, boiler, volumetric dozer, water/steam valve are connected together with Teflon pipes and supports at the ends with the clips and one "o" ring. In one of this point the clip can slip out so the Teflon hose to be loose and so the leak which is at the point which you can see. There are also some cases if the machine is more that 2-3 years one of the above parts to leak itself due to tearing out and it might need to be replaced. So you need to remove first the top panel and then the side panel and work the machine with extra safety since we have power wires and with visual check to find the point of leak.
If it is just the Teflon pipe and clip slip out the secure it back again, if it one of the part you can try to tight up and if the leak insist then you need to replace it.
Would be glad to know if the information was helpful to you. All the best Elect_Comp

THE FORTHED MILK NOT HOT

Try steaming less actual milk and allowing the froth and expansion to make up the volume you need for the size of the cup. This allows you to steam the milk longer achieving a hotter froth.

Delonghi perfecta milk not hot enough

Ummn - something in your Q. seems not right. The milk is not heated directly - its only heated by the steam as it passes by (and picks up) by the milk using a venturi effect - same as a spray bottle attached to a garden hose. You say you have froth - but you can only get that if you have steam... (it does not just blow air thru to create bubbles). So froth = steam & steam = heat... so milk must be hot.
Suggest you check manual for the 'heat' settings for your expresso as this may have been changed. While this is adjustable, the milk is not.

Also always heat your cups before using them - the silver cup 'holder' at the top does a reasonable job but boiling water does far better.

Delonghi magnifica promblems with water and milk

Frothing jug
For milk frothing issues, soak the milk jug cover in hot water and rinse several times. If it has a froth control that can be removed by sliding in the direction of travel towards the edge whilst jiggling it gently up and down. Clean off the little o-ring with a toothpick, be gentle. The control should easily slide and click back in place when done.

Froth still no good? Examine the milk coupling to ensure the o-rings are in the right spot and are pliable and undamaged. There should be an o-ring (usually green) on the top spigot, a (black) o-ring at the front of the bottom spigot and a (red) oring at the rear. The groove halfway along the spigot should be clear. Now with the toothpick and a hot moist cloth clean all the crud from the milk coupling, especially inside the smaller spigot. Check the tiny hole at the back of the larger spigot is not blocked.

Check the flow from the hot water spout is good. If not, there are internal issues, try descaling. If it is, test the frothing jug, if it is still weak either the jug cover or the milk coupling needs to be replaced. Get them to try a known good test jug at your local coffee service center to find out which, most will be happy to do this at the counter.
