You may want to check a local lighting store. They specialize in light fixtures and have numerous books to order from and a lot of expertise (usually, at least more than the high school kid at home depot). Hampton Bay is popular fan brand so I don't think they'll have much trouble.

The same thing happened to me, you put them on two tight. just right now i was going to take mine off so i could let u know which way to turn it. but can't take it off and i just put it on last night, & not too tight. i just remember that i have an xtra one, okay i got it it's counter clock wise. you're going to need someone to help you hold the light kit fitter assembly while you turn it. careful not to strip the light kit fitter assembly. mine rotates both ways now because when i tried to take it off it would turn so mabybe it's the other way, and nothing. then i got **** & started to used more force, back and fort, by myself even with the help of my friend it was a ***** to get it off. good luck.
