Our television just began having what looks like a 'double screen'...or the picture has a 'shadow'...and also looks as though the entire screen 'curves' ..at the top and bottom of the screen it is black..and curves...like an hourglass shape...What could this be. sorry it is hard to describe...hope this makes sense...and you can help with our problem. We unplugged the t.v. for 30 minutes..this did not resolve the problem...thank you for your help.
We took our television in to the tech..the problem was 'a chip in the power supply'. We were able to get it repaired for a lot less than a new televison would have cost...and the picture now is GREAT. thanks for your input. We took our television in to the tech..the problem was 'a chip in the power supply'. My RCA model P52920BL is doing the exact same thing. Any chance that this "chip" can be purchased so that I can repair it myself? Is there a repair manual of some sort available somewhere? My RCA model P52920BL is doing the exact same thing. Any chance that this "chip" can be purchased so that I can repair it myself? Since the time that I first posted that I was having the same problem, I was able to obtain a service manual for this TV. The manual told me how to run a diagnostic on the set. From the results, I was able to determine which part was generating the error. I purchased the new part, installed it, and now the TV will not power up at all. Clearly I've missed something critical here. Does anyone have any suggestions?Since the time that I first posted that I was having the same problem, I was able to obtain a service manual for this TV. This problems is known as a convergence problems,it dead. The R,G,B colors lines mis alignment, have colors shadows or picture look like 3D pictures. The tv convergence board,it dead.Require, must be changes 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors to solved tv convergence picture problems. The shop, will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
Hi Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check whether all the cables from your dish network are fine and connected firmly. If yes then you'll need to pull off the front of the TV, behind the speaker grill there would be a panel. Remove the panel and check for a black box hanging over there. It has 6 controls on it, 3 are marked as focus and 3 as screen. You'll need to adjust the screen. If you turn these too high you can damage the tube. So you need to do only a small adjustment. Turn the color off on the TV and adjust the red, blue & green controls up till you get a fine picture. Also adjust the focus until you get a clear picture. And, if it doesn't resolve your issue then it is an intermittent blue picture tube, a bad blue driver transistor on the CRT board, a bad connection on the blue CRT board or a problem in the RGB coming from the video jungle IC.The price to resolve the issue will most likely run you about 300 to 500 bucks, unless it is the picture tube. Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
need tyio repair the convergence circuit if the picture starts to look 3-D , you will need to google a place that sells the complete kit for that problem, Larry Dillon
If the entire screen is curved, and it is not taking the whole screen, then you have a vertical deflection problem.
If the colors are double and do not match, with lines of different colors around pictures , then you have a convergence problem, often caused by a faulty convergence board.
The curving effect can be a side effect of bad convergence, or you may have both problems at once.
Unless you are a TV repairer yourself, better calling technical support. Usually you can ring the number listed on the owner manual.
You probly have a convergence cicuit failure. Replacing the convergencr IC's will probly fix it.
I recommend a professional repairman to
do it though. Particularly if it needs further adjustments after the IC's are replaced.
You have possibly contaminated fluid in your blue picture tube if it has a hazy look.Blacks and whites look bluish and whites have a blue bloom to them. The other problem could be bad convergence amps. This would be double image around letters on the screen.
OUR TOSHIBA HAS A DOUBLE VISION/BLURRIE PICTURE. THIS PROBLEM IS ALWAYS THERE. SOMETIMES THE PICTURE IS GREAT, BUT MOST OF THE TIME
ITS BLURRIE/DOUBLE. LOOKS AS IF IT ALWAYS ON 3D!! ANY SUGGESTIONS?
WE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP WE CAN GET FROM ANYONE.
THANK YOU!
