Won't Sleep I haven't used my iPod for about one and a half weeks, so I used it today, and tried to put it back to sleep but it didn't work. I pressed the sleep button and nothing happened. My iPod is 1 1/4 years old.

What button on the ipod is the sleep button?

Pressing the button on the top right side of the device puts it to sleep. Also, normally if you just don't touch the phone for a period of time it will put itself to sleep.

Hope that helps!

Ipod touch screen is unresponsive but it makes sounds like normal

Fix an Unresponsive Ipod Screen
Many of today's electronic devices including cell phones, music players and portable game systems have a touch screen.
When a touch screen fails, it does not respond when you tap it with your finger or a stylus.
This can happen due to several reasons, such as a screen protector, dust or improper calibration.
You can often fix an unresponsive touch screen by cleaning it or resetting the device.
Remove the plastic touch screen protector sheet.
Some protector sheets are too thick and prevent the touch screen from responding to your touch. If you must use a protector screen, only use one that is licensed for your specific device.
Wipe the screen with a soft microfiber cloth.
Clean off any dirt, dust or fingerprints on the screen.

Dry your hands thoroughly.
The touch screen will not respond if your hands are wet.
Reset the device.
If your device does not have a "Reset" button, remove the battery, memory card or SIM card, then reinstall them.

Delete any third-party applications you recently installed.
Some third-party applications can cause your device to lock up or freeze.

Recalibrate the touch screen.
Look in the device's Settings menu for a calibration option and follow the prompts.

iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
If this fails to fix the problem
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and hold it for a few seconds, until a red slider appears. Press the "Home" button until the frozen app quits.
If this doesn't work, you can try restarting the iPod touch.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button if you need to restart the iPod touch, and hold it until the red slider appears on the screen.
Slide your finger over the slider to turn off the device.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and hold it until the iPod touch turns back on.
If you can't turn off the iPod touch, you can try resetting it.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button while simultaneously pressing the "Home" button when you want to reset the iPod touch, and continue to hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds, until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears.

My ipod says disabled and try again in 21,345,432 minutes..please help

This explains how to do a hard rest on the IPOD, if you haven't tried it already

To perform an iPod Touch hard reset, start by turning the iPod Touch on. Press and hold down the sleep/wake button until you see the Apple logo on the screen. Next, you need to turn the iPod Touch completely off. Press and hold down the sleep/wake button until you see the red slider. Slide the slider to turn off the iPod Touch. This should fix any potential problems you are having with your iPod Touch.
If you are unable to turn off iPod Touch, you can try doing a manual reset. To do so, hold down the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time. Continue to hold them for at least 10-15 seconds. Wait for the Apple logo to appear.

Good luck!

HI i am Isuru Medonza, i own an 8GB ipod touch 2G , a week ago, I updated it to the firmware 4.2.1, and I jailbroke it using Redsnow, Red snow asked me whether i wanted to put a new boot screen , and i...

There are a couple of things for you to try. First off just a couple of notes, the "Sleep Button" is the button on top of your iPod and the "Home Button" is the button on the front of your iPod. huntermaggar.jpg So to fix your problem you first need to restore it. But first we need to get iTunes to recognize it.
1.You can try restarting it by holding the sleep button and the home button until the whole iPod reboots. (Usually around 10 seconds)
  • After that try to plug your iPod into your computer again and try to restore it.
2. Try to put your iPod into "DFU" mode.
  • With your iPod powered off and plugged into your computer (plug it in and then power it off)
  • Hold the sleep button for 3 seconds.
  • While continuing to hold the sleep button, hold the home button and sleep button for 10 seconds.
  • Let go of the sleep button, but keep holding the home button for another 30 seconds.
After that your iPod should be in DFU mode which is factory settings and you should be able to use it with iTunes.
And the next time you want to downgrade it you should check out this video. This is what I used to downgrade my iPod touch 2g.

Good luck!

My Ipod touch screen suddenly began to display everything huge. What happened?

Hi mariaelenaga,

To set a minimum font size for messages:

Choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" > Minimum Font Size, then choose Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, or Giant.

Also, you may need to try the following:

Restarting and Resetting iPod touch

If something isn't working right, restarting, force quitting an application, or resetting iPod touch will likely solve the problem.

Restart iPod touch: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.

Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch. To turn iPod touch back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

If you can't turn off iPod touch or if the problem continues, you may need to reset. A

reset should be done only if turning iPod touch off and on doesn't resolve the problem.

Force quit an application: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPod touch

for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then press and hold the Home button

until the application quits.

Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the
same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Hope this helps.

I have a a1236 model it's stuck on sleep.

First, if the ipod is stuck in sleep mode when it is off, then try pressing the center button and see if the apple symbol comes up on the screen. If it doesn't then try this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps you!
