What type of dvd do you need to use to record?

I have tried recording with "dvd+r" dvds and the player would not accept them for recording. Is there a certain type of recordable dvd that I need to use?

If you click on the "VRDVD5000 DVD Recorder...Combo" link at the top of the page and scroll down towards the bottom of the page that brings up, you'll find an outline spec for the machine. Just looking at that, it would appear you ought to be trying "dvd-r" - (The difference between plus and minus is significant - it's a shame nobody thought to make the names more distinctive). Suggest you buy a single dvd-r, see how you get on, and only invest in a bigger pack once you know it's going to work. A.

Definitly should work with DVD-R. DVD+R will not work.

I'm having problems formatting discs for Panasonic EZ47 DVD recorder. Keep getting "formatting unsuccessful" message.

Now here are the types of DVDs that you can record to DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL
Now the only types that you can format are DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD+RW
So first make sure you are not trying to format the wrong type of DVD. If you are using the correct type then you might want to try a different brand. Sometimes certain brands of DVDs have problems with certain players. You can also try updating your player's firmware and see if that corrects the problem also.

My LG DVD RECORDER, MODEL RH7500 won't play DVDs.

Check the model specifications for your device. Some players will only accept DVD-R and not DVD+R or not DVD+RW discs. I know it all seems the same, and it's very frustrating, but many companies restrict the type of discs they will allow. My player does +R but not -R. It should still be able to read DVD discs that you made yourself, but they will be of a different type.

On my AR_230 I have been trying to record from

Your DVD player can only read certain formats. You will need to use a program like Nero to convert the stuff you download the videos that your DVD player can read. Nero has good documentation, so just take a look at that, and decide what format you want to go with.

Your player should say what it can play in the manual.

Does the machine record on to + or - DVDR?
If it does both try each type. Also try high quality discs, some of the cheaper types won't work. Try it on different speeds too.

Toshiba RD-XS35 DVD Recorder

Toshiba tech support for this one. If it is not accepting the cleaner disk - you have to wonder if something is already intere or do you mean will not rune the disk? Inwhich case it is a drive failure and needs replacement[of drive if available] or whole machine. Contact Toshiba first though it may be a known issue.
