Picture did not come out well - best way to describe - it seems that all whites on the picture is now magenta. The hole screen has a magenta hue.

I opened the back of the unit - all 3 colors light. it just seems that the red is overpowering. When the initial problem occured - the TV went black and then a red oval appeared on the black screen. The TV then booted with a magenta tone throughout. It also looks like all the whites in the picture are replaced by the magenta.

Green gun is not working in your TV, you can confirm it by opening back cover of TV where you will see 3 lenses. Red-Green-Blue. Let me know do you see green lens is bright?

Hi, Replace convergence out ICs to get it fixed. You can replace these chips if you can replace parts in circuit board with proper tools or ask local tv tech. Required ICs are available with Part Store. Thanks.
That can be caused by lots of different things going wrong. You will not be able to repair that yourself, and will need to have a technician look at that kind of a problem.
Ck Blue capacitor next to hori out out transistor 2Kv high voltage cap. then where your STK ICs they are big black ics will have part number on them most of the time one of them is bad and will shut tv off always replace both ics and CK all pico fuses around ICs they look like resistors but are fuses they are Green or yellow.
yeah, they only keep parts for so long which makes it much harder to find anything, if that number falls through, I suggest calling a tv repair place and asking them for help. I bet you will find the part but if not, everyone could use the exercise right? have a good day.
If you buy the service manual, you can check that for the part otherwise I would just call Sony at 800-488-7669 and they should be able to send a new one to you. Good Luck.
Joe, did you have a tech confirm it`s the yoke? Not a common problem to have a yoke failure, maybe yoke return resistor(s) or possibly bad convergence IC`s, poor signal from DCU (digital convergence unit).

More than anything - the whites appear magenta - pink.
