Question about Sony KP-57WS500 57" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Green picture after the tv is on for about 15 minutes the picture goes green. like the blue and red bulbs aren't working. if i shut it off and turn it back on it's fine for a few minutes then goes green again. i pulled the back off to see if all the bulbs were working. it seams like the blue and red start to fade.

You might wanna look into the "flicker issue" with your set...If you've had it for a while a could be that it's just worsened over time and developed into a voltage leak. I have the same set and it went undetected for a couple of years due to poor quality cable signal..once I went to a clear signal (ie. directv) the issue was very noticeable, but by that time it had progressed. Eventually one of your guns will fail and the set will stop working all together (mine did just under 4yrs from purchase) and unless you have Sears warranty that WILL try to stick it to you. TRUST ME!!! Good luck.

Dlp tv color goes fuzzy and green

Its probably unrelated to lamp, take the lamp out, try it again and look into the lens, if its still very green the projectors electronics are failing. The projector generates pictures as 3 streams of info Red Green and Blue. It looks like the projectors red and blue electronics are failing, but the green is working.

Hitachi 65f59 65 TV keeps shutting off

This set uses a number of green L.E.D.'s inside which are tied to different voltages---if you can watch them when set shuts off you are looking for one that goes out either quickly or after the others--points to area (voltage) where problem may be.

Other visual indications are screen changes red, green, blue right at shutdown and sound and brightness then both vanish=shutdown circuit being triggered to protect the set.

My Sony KP-46WT500 screen shows the tv image in blue only for a few seconds, then it goes completely blank (as if it were off). Do I need to replace the bulbs?

It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen.
Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while?
If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution.
Thanks.

No picture on my x5g-komodo7 monitor

A reddish picture is the classic symptom of worn out backlight bulbs.
Sensor circuits usually shut down the power to the bulbs in a second or so.

Green flashes then tv turns off

or a new lamp. you could first replace the lamp.
the screen might work fine for a couple of seconds, but then it fades away or deteriorates. This means the lamp is going bad.

Shutting off and on...

the problem may be due to dry soldering in the power supply stage if it was with the lamp there would be red or green light showing the presence of the power to the tv after making it own some of the components get hot and it will make the the soldering point conectionless and after some time the heat sink get cooled and the soldering point gets connected and u will see the picture again it is a simple problem if u have a soldering iron u make it hot and re solder all the components in the first part of the circuit board and the problem if rectified
