My sound doesn't work on my motherboard

I downloaded the driver that came with my motherboard for the sound. the driver came with this audio sound tester and it work, but when i tried using the the speaker(i have a built in speaker on my monitor) such as for gaming or watching a video on youtube there was no sound. i figure it must have been my speaker, so i hook my comp up a dell speaker that isn't attach to the monitor but that didn't work either. do i need to buy a certain kind of speaker?

the sound worked when i opened up the program and test it out, but when i tired to actually use the comp like going on youtube or play a game, the sound doesn't work.

Why did you download the driver in the first place?
Was the sound not working?
If this is the case and it still is not working then I suspect a dead sound card.
Replace it with a PCI card

Basic computer speakers are all the same

Nosound

Just to make sure desktops almost never have built in speakers.
1. Check that your speakers work. Try them with an MP3 player or other device to make sure they work.
2. Check that the speaker is plugged in the right socket. Play something on computer and switch around the plug.
3. In windows press START->Control Panel->System->Device manager.
Right click on Sound device and write down the make (Company and a model number).
4a. Google their website and go to support->downloads/drivers and download the appropriate driver.
4b. If its an INTEL sound device you might have to look up the motherboard as it might be bundled with the motherboard driver.

I have a ASUS M2N MX mother board and i lost my driver copy i installed windows7 in that but no sound output produced what will ido plz teill me

It doesn't appear that Asus supports Windows 7 with this motherboard, only Vista. The available Vista drivers are available here. Often Vista drivers will work on 7, so just select your architecture, 32-bit or 64-bit and download.

You can also try downloading this driver, which is which is said to work with the on-board audio.

I hope this helps

Hello arthurg7a46
In the Device manager , you can go for a driver update of your sound controller where there is a question mark . Double click and select driver \ driver update and let Windows search on the Internet .
Unfortunately , this doesn' t always work and you will need to identify the sound controller to ba able to download the driver manually from the manufacturer's site .
Eventually , if you have difficulties in identifying the sound controller , try using a Driver Wizard such as Free Driver Max from http://download.cnet.com/DriverMax/3000-18513_4-10572602.html or purchase some other one like Driver Detective you can easily find with Google .
Best regards ,

P5vd2 not sound on win 7

Hello, I am the technician that will be assisting you today. My name is Norman-Wynne Damstra.Welcome to Fixya, Rifaguant.

Try the Vista drivers, Click here to download the Audio driver.
Select your Operating system as Windows Vista 32bit.

Click Audio heading and then click global to download, you may have to try both drivers if the first one doesn't work.

If they both don't work then:
ASUS has not created Windows 7 drivers for the Audio chipset on this mainboard. You will need to purchase a basic sound card to fit the White long PCI slot compatible with Windows 7.

Try eBay or your local computer store.

Take care!
