Have had stove 6 years using propane. Replaced regulator recently due to a slow pinhole gas leak in the regulator assembly (I think it had been there the whole time). At first the oven flames were high and the top burners were low. I researched and found I needed to reverse the valve to LP (as it came set for Natural Gas). Everything worked fine. Couple days later I "self cleaned" the oven. During this process the flames were very high and covered the oven with soot. The over is still making high flames. Do I coincidentally have another problem? Would appreciate any help!
You need a Gas tech/plumber there urgently!!!!
If the gas jets in your oven had not been changed to accomodate LP gas then the orifice on your existing jets are still to large in diameter. In other words your using Natural Gas jets ( lower pressure jets) for Lp which has a much higher pressure than Nat. gas, this can be extremely dangerous, & could cause major problems.
Again I strongly suggest you contact a Gas tech/Plumber & do not use your oven until it has beeen checked by a professional.Good luck
SOURCE: GE 36" Monogram Gas Cooktop - low flame
I would have someone come out. Perhaps a gas plumber first. Gas is not something you want to fool around with yourself.
SOURCE: Ge Monogram Gas Cooktop - won't boil water - burners seem like they are starved for gas
Bret, lets give this a try. 1st look at the regulator. There is an arrow on it that has to point towards the cooktop. Put is on backwards and very little gas flow. I always advise this first as I have seen people tell me it is correct and when I got out there it was reversed. 2nd was this used as a live demo unit on Propane? If you are on natural gas, this will also happen. The 3rd thing I also check for in something in the gas line on the cooktop side. I had a unit that got some packing in the line and at 5 wc for natural gas, it doesn't take much to restrict. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: converted a ge gas to lp. the oven and broiler has too much flame
You must close the gas valve orifice. There is a gas valve (silver or grey colored rectangular shaped piece which feeds the burner(s)) that has a brass or gold-colored hex nut. This nut (1/2 inch) needs to be tighten down clockwise to the stop point. This will regulate the flame.

You have trash, corrosion or a mis-aligned part.
Check and repair these and you will be fine.
SOURCE: The high flame doesn't seem to be working on any burners
hi gud day...try to remove the nozzle inside the burner base using open wrench(depend the size)the use vacium, put the vacium were the place of the nozzle,i think there some dirt inside..then return it again the nozzle to check if it works,,if not replace the regulator for the 2nd sollution.

Usually answered in minutes!
I hope my questions wasn't asked in too complicated a way. Bottom line is flames are way too high in the oven and I am not sure if it is due to the part i replaced or some new problem. I am getting too skinny as my wife can't bake. I am watching closely and can clarify anything you need. Would be really appreciative of help I will keep looking for existing solutions. Thanks!
