How do you add freon
All this talk about calling a tech is bull. You CAN handle and use freon (r22, r410,r134). All these types of freon do not require a special license or permit to use. EPA is not going to fine you for trying to add freon to a window unit. If you did this as a profession, I would say they might take a closer look at you, but they are not going to waste their time on one window unit, nor is it ill3gal to do this yourself. You will have to purchase a line tap in order to add the type of freon you need. Window units do not come with a service port. The tap will allow you to add the freon. Always add your freon to the low side of the AC unit, this will be the larger of the two copper or aluminum tubes going to the compressor. There will a label (tag) on the inside of the unit telling you which freon to use and how much. Also, you DO NOT need any certifications or licenses to purchase freon. R410a R22 R134 are all legal to purchase without the need for special certifications or licenses. California may have some laws on this, but most other states do not. I have been doing AC work for over 30 years.
How does this post stay active? A neighbor can turn you in for servicing your A/C without a license. You pay $20K USD and he gets $10K of it. Check the laws and while throwing out very wrong information, take time to get certified where you can then purchase refrigerant legally and along the route, hopefully there will no longer be a need to make things up as you go.

Window units do not come with service ports. You can buy them at local parts houses, but unless you have the freon, not gonna do you any good. Window ac use either r22 our 410a, and that cannot be bout without being certified.

Hi,
My advise call a tech.
EPA performs random inspections in response to citizen tips pursuing
potential cases against violators. The EPA is authorized to assess
fines of up to $32,500 per day for any violation of the Clean Act
regulations.
Always take a wise decision.
Thanks.

Adding refrigerant (Freon is Dupont's name for refrigerant) requires some special tools and gauges. More important than that is your system should not loose refrigerant. It you are low that means you have a leak in the system. It should be found and repaired before new refrigerant is added. A qualified repair technician should be called.
Sincerely,

If the system runs you will first need to add freon to the system (make sure it the right freon) Just enough to find leak. After you find leak and repair evacuate the entire system and weigh in charge. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: how do i add freon to fedders model # A6X05F2B
you dont!!! Only an EPA certified technician can do this. Besides that this is window unit and therefore it is a sealed unit not meant to be recharged. Some newer models allow for this but not this Federers. It probably just needs a good coil cleaning is all, if its losing refrigerant than it has major problems not worth fixing---buy a new one thats more efficient---the energy savings will pay for the unit.
