Put the thread through one of the holes. Then put the bobbin on the spindle. Pull about 3 or 4 inches out of the hole and hold on to it. Start winding the bobbin. After about ten turns, or when the winding thread is secure, you can stop the machine and cut off this 3 or 4 inch tail. To insure that the thread winds up and down the bobbin and not off the top or bottom, there is probably a metal bobbin tension disk that the thread must pass around before it goes to the bobbin. It is probably on the left of the machine and may or may not be part of a thread guide. The thread must pass around this disk on its way to the bobbin in order to put tension on the thread so it will wind properly. If you can't find the disk, which is a small metal button or screw with some type of somewhat moveable spring cap, you can just get the thread to pass through your thumb and forefinger. Hold your hand 6 or 8 inches to the left of the bobbin and pass the thread between your thumb and forefinger so that it makes the thread go in a direct straight line to the bobbin. Pinch the thread only enough to keep it taught but not tight and let it flow through your finger to the bobbin. The thread should go up and down evenly on the bobbin. If not, move your hand up or down to position it so the thread will wind up and down smoothly. It will not be necessary to move your hand once you find the correct position needed for winding.

SOURCE: Brother Sewing Machine model:CS8150 bobbin thread problems

The top of the machine is not threaded correctly. First raise the presserfot then rethread the machine. Bottom looping is usually caused by a lack of top tension. There could allso be a bur on the hook.

The fact that your machine is turning hard says you still have some thread inside the machine that is binding up and activating the safety device. It must turn easily before it will work properly again.
Sometimes the machine must be disassembled to remove these threads.

Place thread spool on the spool pin at back right top of machine. From there, thread through 1) rear thread guide (little hook), 2) front thread guide (front hook), 3) down and up through the thread tension dial from right to left so that thread picks up the thread spring check (the little spring on the left of the tension dial). 4) Through the thread take-up-lever, from right to left (the little lever that goes up and down). 5) Through the thread guard and guides (one on the front, one on the needle arm). 6) Through the needle, front to back. Bobbin thread loops

If you threaded the machine with the presser foot UP and the thread from the bobbin is feeding from the spool in the correct direction and through the guides on the bobbin case and the loops are still forming, then the machine needs to go into the shop as the timing may need to be adjusted and this is best done by a sewing machine technician, preferably Brother.

Tension problem on Brother ES 2000

I have a Brother CE 4000 Computer sewing machine. I had the same problem when I first used it. I worked with it several hours but to no avail so I decided to stop and wait until my head clear..

I went back a couple of days later. Reread the manual and started over. I discovered my problem was that I was threading the bobbin wrong. Once I threaded it precisely as the manual stated it worked fine.

So this might be your problem. Make sure that the thread on the bobbin is wind on properly. It should be wound evenly. The bobbin must be threaded precisely as the manual says.
Try rethreading the bobbin and the machine
and see if that help.

Brother VX-1120- The needle is not picking up bobbin thread.

I had the same problem with my brother vx-1120 sewing machine. I set the needle to lowest position by using the hand crank. Then I loosened the knerled set screw that holds needle in place. Then I moved needle shaft till the eye of needle is just lower than the hook on the shuttle loop maker. It made my mechine work. There are instuctions for ajusting timing on machine but I think these mechines are built to not fix and throw out. Just because there where no ajustment marks at all on machine, any machanical machine will needed to be ajusted sometime.

Auto threader cassette don't work any longer, How can i manually thread the machine to use it without the cassette?

I do know that you can purchase new cassettes on ebay for about $15.00. I understand that they can fail after a while. A service call may not be necessary. You may be able to purchase one from a dealer as well.
