Open ink access door.
1. Make sure the printer is turned on. Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are missing.
2. Open the ink cartridge access door. [This is the panel that is to the left of the touchscreen. To open, put your fingers on the upper left hand side of the panel (by the logo: HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium), You should be able to gently pull the panel so that it opens out.]
NOTE: Wait until the print carriage stops moving before proceeding.
3. Press the front of the ink cartridge to release it, and then remove it from the slot.
4. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging.
5. Using the color-coded letters for help, slide the ink cartridge into the empty slot until it is securely installed in the slot.

Can you use black only in hp officejet 6700 rather than all the cartridges

Hello, Lisa -

You can choose to print in black only. However, the black print will use not only the ink from the black ink cartridge but it will also draw from the 3 other color ink cartridges.

Bottom line: You will need sufficient ink in all ink cartridges even to print in black only.

Please read your HP 6700 user's manual, starting on page 74 of the manual.

In case you do not have the user's manual for your printer, this is the link so you can download and save the PDF (Adobe Acrobat Reader software, free) version of the manual:

HP 932 933 950 951 Refilled Ink Cartridge Usage

If using refilled HP 950, 950XL, HP 951 or HP 951XL ink cartridges you observe an "Unauthorized ink", "non-genuine ink cartridge may affect warranty", "counterfeit ink" or similar message, you can simply ignore/dismiss these messages by pressing 'OK' once for each cartridge, so that the printer resumes its normal operation. Customers who have questions regarding the use of refilled ink cartridges can visit http://www.inkjet411.com Alternatively, if a refill center is not close to you and you need to purchase a new ink cartridge(s) and are trying to cut costs, we suggest you try a remanufactured ink cartridge from http://www.inkplicity.com/ as their ink cartridges typically have the lowest cost in the USA, have a high reliability rating, come with a 1-year warranty and provide free shipping for all orders above $20 (available for US Residents only). HP officejet pro 8500 ink cartridge problem

Changing a printer cartridge is not complex but improper handling of the parts may damage the printer and the cartridge. If the user notices that while printing the ink comes out dry or faded, it may be time to change the ink or the toner. The user will know if it is time to change the toner because instead of a sharp image, one will get a faded image. It is time to change the ink cartridge when the printing comes out spotty or colors are used to replace others —for instance, blue for black or yellow for red. Remember, faded images signal the need to change the toner; spotty printing signals the need to change the ink cartridge get more help for change cartridge .

HP 932 RED LIGHT STAYS ON

The light you describe is the ink light.
When that light is blinking, try this.

Turn on the printer. Open the front cover and look at the carrier for the ink cartridges. There is a white arrow right above the latch for the color cartridge.
Once the carrier stops moving, the white arrow should be pointing to a symbol which represents the problem (the reason the light is blinking.) Examples are low ink black, low ink color, sick black ( replace ) , sick color ( replace ).

IF you have just replaced your black cartridge, you might need to replace your color cartridge too.
This printer will not work without both ink cartridges installed and full.
You cant print with a full black and an empty color cartridge unfortunately, even if you only want to print black.

Hope this helps!
