I dont really know if this is one problem or many problems. I have sony mp3 player (1G). when i use it as a USB to save some files it doesnt allow me to open it, instead it shows strange letters (and in some PCs it displays a warning about some trojan svc.exe), i tried to scan it and the scan result was clear. this is the first problem.
The second problem is that i have formatted it using FAT32 at the begining, then i used the FAT system to format it (note that im using win XP with sp2). When i turn it on it displays an error (FORMAT ERROR).
my question is how to get rid off the virus if its there ?
and, how to get rid off the format error, do i need any third party utility to format ??
Thank you in advance.
Same here I have Sony NWZ B-133F and it had format error after i plugged it on DVD player with USB. There's no way I can format it on any PC.
My solution is that I go to device manager and install/update the driver>browse computer for driver software>let me pick from a list of device>choose removable drive not the MTP. then it will show on your explorer, hence u can format it now using Fat16 or default settings.

I'm sorry that the Network Player is displaying the error message. Usually, the error message appears if you use the Computer to format the player. In order to resolve the issue, please format the player using the format option from the Menu items on the Player.
Please follow the below steps to format the player using the Menu options.
If the issue persists, service may be required. Pleaseclick hear to locate your nearest service facility:
Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require further assistance.
You will need to format the mp3 player.
Then administrative tools
Then Computer management
In the left column click disk management, right click on the pen drive and format it.
Be sure you format it with: FAT FILE SYSTEM.
Make sure the 2gb is really up to 2gb because sometimes they might just stretch it and say its 2gb. How to know is, if you put one or two songs it will accept and play but once its more... they start showing you format error....
Hi, First of all formate your MP3 player through built-in format option of the player, remember dont try to format it through PC. then by using software provided with the MP3 copy songs of your choice and past in your player with the help of software, also don't copy and paste directly from PC to MP3. This will solve your problem. Thanks for using fixya.
Hi, The data you copy and put in your MP3 player must have the same format which it playes. Therefore, use any converter software and change the format and play it in your MP3 player. Hope you will understand my saying. Thanks for using fixya.
I hade just that prob. "format error" used to display. I did this:
1. dwl sonicStage (free)
2.- in the walkman went to menu/initialize/format
then displayed a confirmation screen, I confirmed
it displayed "formating...... COMPLETE"
3.- THEN plugged into the PC and transfered songs with Sonic
and it worked!
The below was copyed from an earlier post of mine.
Over a period of time your info can get corrupt from transering music back and forth.
To format plug it in to usb.
Go to my computer
It shows up as a removably disc, usually drive f:
Right click on drive f: (or the approriate drive) and click format.
Let me know what happens, you will have reload the player, also try bypassing the software you are using to tranfer, by opening up drive f: and clicking and dragging your music into it , or you can copy and paste it into drive f:
actaully i bought ipod one month past........by mistake i formated my sony walkman NW-E005 512 MB MP3 Player now i get
