Dropped my camera disc on the floor after finalising how to get data from the disk

The disc is not cracked but looks like liquid in the disc. The recording time is 30min on each side. When I insert the disc in the computer, the computer does not read one side of the disc but reads on the other side. Have I lost my data from one side of 30min if I did how can I recover my data and memories from the disc.

SOURCE: same problem "movie recording disabled"

Scott,
Since this is a new camera, nothing was changed as far as the disc, it should work, has it been switched to "still" for photos, that's the message that comes up when you change it. You shouldn't have to finalize the disc before you shut off the camera, try starting it with another disc then shut it off replace it with your baptism disc and try to preview the video, if it shows you should be able to aad to it or then finalize it.

Dcr-dvd201e sony handycam formated disc (very important pictures erased)

If the disk has been finalised, it cannot subsequently be formatted. If it has been formatted, then it had not been finalised.

Will not play on computer

Before you can transfer pictures or video from your Canon DC210 to your PC you need to finalise the disc in the camcorder.

You also need to make sure that the DVD drive on your PC is capable of reading a DVD-R, DVD-R DL or DVD-RW format as these are the only disk formats that the DC210 will handle. Not all PC DVD drives can read these formats.

To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then, switch on the camera, put it into playback mode, Press 'Func.', select main menu, select 'disk operations', select 'finalise'. Don't move or shake the camera or switch it off whilst the finalising step is underway - this could cause problems.

Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.

Good Luck.

Cant transfer footage from Canon DC201 onto computer (and eventually internet) Do I need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer?

You don't need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer.

One of two things has gone wrong
1. Your PC cannot read the -R DVD format, or, more likely
2. You have not finalised the disk.

You must finalise the disk in the camcorder before putting it in the PC. To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then go to the main menu, select 'disk operations' and you'll see an option to finalise disk. Don't move or shake the camera whilst the finalising step is underway.

Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.

check for smudges on the disc or on the laser optic sensor. cleaning liquids and cleaning Disc kits may be found in Camera and PC stores. if you need extensive services we can provide the service manualat a reasonable cost.
