How do I use the microphone that is built in to my Logitech C615 webcam?

I can not find out how to access it. My driver is not updated, nor CAN I update.... my computer is 32-bit, and the updated c615 software crashes it as it is not made for 32-bit. I have looked in the Audio Properties tab, I have looked in the Sound and Audio Devices tab, I have looked everywhere and done everything and it does not show up. My computer is Windows XP. Anyone know a solution? I know it comes with a mic, it says so on the box.

SOURCE: QuickCam mic doesn't work

I read another post that said to go to Logitech itself for up-dates. This I did......downloaded all new drivers, etc. (the disc that comes with the cam must be out of date !). Then when that was done, I went back on Skype and where you do a 'voice test' I was able to this time around to "choose" my webcam - this was not coming up before at all. So in doing that it activated the mic on the webcam and all was OK. We seniors are supposed to be savvy with the forever changing world of electronic devices today! (LOL)

SOURCE: WebCam is in use by another application

Copy this site and paste it in your browser address bar and hit ENTER.

http://download.cnet.com/ManyCam-Virtual-Webcam/3000-2348_4-10593500.html?tag=mncol

to your web browser and paste it in the Address Bar and hit ENTER.
Then download the program and install it to start having fun with your camera and friends.

Manycam allows you to use your Webcam with multiple programs at the same time. Broadcast your
Webcam on MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Skype, AIM, Paltalk, and Camfrog all simultaneously. Manycam
also allows you to add cool live CGI (computer generated special effects and graphics) to your
Webcam. Make it appear as if your face or hand is on fire with our "fire" effect.
Pretend you are underwater or make it look like it's snowing inside your house with the
Manycam underwater and snow effects. Add text, graphics, or your country's flag to your video
window.

ManyCam is the freeware tool for you if you use both CamFrog and ICQ, or any other video chat
program, and you want to use them simultaneously. It creates a "virtual" Webcam that
replicates your currently installed camera. It then lets multiple applications
access the video stream without conflict.

ManyCam is compatible with Yahoo, MSN, CamFrog, PalTalk, ICQ, Skype, YouTube, and more. Once
you've installed ManyCam, you need to set ManyCam as the primary input for program that you
want to use. ManyCam will automatically start when you activate your Webcam through that
program. The application includes a bunch of gimmicky features that let you change aspects of
the background and foreground. You can map a new pair of cartoon eyes over your face, and they
track pretty well to your movements, or you can show that your life is hell by replacing the
background with flames.

NOTE: There is an unfortunate toolbar that will install unless you opt out during setup, but
other than that ManyCam is worthy of a Webcam Oscar for cool and useful tech.

Hope this is of some help. Bud

SOURCE: New update for Logitech software available, 48mb.

The download includes the Logitech webcam drivers, bug fixes, support for Windows 7, newer Logitech webcam releases and a new software interface. This is the full release including the webcam driver, but does not contain any third party applications. If you are not having any problems you don't really need to upgrade it.

I purchased an c615 LogitechHD Webcam, was I suppose to have a cd with it?

According to the specifications here, https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/hd-webcam-c615 , the Logitech C615 packaging does not include a CD. It just has the webcam and the user documentation. You can get the Logitech software for the C615 here: http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/hd-webcam-c615/downloads# .

I hope this helps.

Setting up Logitech C615 webcam

Hi bryno2087

LOGITECH C615 WEBCAM SETUP

You don't say which Operating System is installed on your computer or where you loaded or downloaded the drivers for this webcam from. I assume it was from the CD that came with the camera. If you do not have a CD or the CD is defective, you can select your Windows or Mac OSX Operating System (other Operating Systems might not be supported) and download the drivers from the Official Logitech Driver and Downloads Support Website here:

http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/435/8041?section=downloads

For some webcams, it is better to install the drivers and software first and then connect the camera afterwards.

If you have previously installed the drivers and software with the camera connected, disconnect the webcam > uninstall all components of the webcam drivers and software > restart the computer > reinstall the webcam drivers and software > restart the computer > reconnect the webcam > Computer > right click on the camera icon at the bottom of the window (scroll down if necessary)> Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) > double click on the new desktop webcam icon.

I hope this helps.

Does the LOGITECH C120 Webcam have a built in microphone? If not could you make it a bit more obvious for the non computer experts. Could you recommend a suitable easy to connect compatible microphone.

No it doesn't. My advice is to get a headset with a boom mic. It sounds much better than talking into a webcam, and it cuts out room noise. Many retailers carry these for $20-30.

Cant hear enything when i am speakin with friend on the mic

Unplug the camera, remove all the Logitech camera AND Logitech camera drivers via Control Panel/ Remove Applications, then reboot. After re-boot, plug in the camera, Windows will identify it as a USB Camera / Mic and it will work in all applications including Skype. You will not have access to the Logitech menus but the camera and Mic WILL WORK in all your communications needs. After a number of instances where I lost my Mic input, I finally gave up on the Logitech software since they are incapable of finding the Windows Update driver that conflicts with their own driver. Although mine is currently working fine as a Windows recognized "USB Camera Mic", the next Webcam I get will NOT be Logitech. It's a great Webcam but since they are clearly incapable of keeping their software compatible with Windows updates, I'll switch to another make. Hope this helps.

Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX

There are a couple of ways to go about this. You can download a Microsoft Update KB900485 which is an acoustic echo canceling driver. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=404280BF-B240-4A34-AE0E-798CDED8CBAF&displaylang=en This specific fix is a random timing bugcheck when using two-way audio. There is also a paych you can download from Logitech. http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/quickcam.html Or, you can try buying another microphone and using it instead of the built-in microphone.
