The original Blackjack will not recognize anything larger than 2gb. Sorry, but you just wasted buying those 4 gb. cards. I found this out the hard way too when I bought my daughter a 4gb card for her Blackjack. I have a BJ2 which will recognize the 4gb cards.
I found a Blackjack 2 I617 and ofcourse it was an AT&T phone...I already have a T-mobile phone and service, but the Blackjack 2 looks so much better than mine. As you know if you insert your T-mobile sim in, the Blackjack will say the put in unlock code....all I did was contact AT&T, told them that I just purchased a Blackjack from (make your own cellular store name up) Joe Schmoe Cellular and I was told by the sales rep to contact you guys (AT&T) and ask for an unlock code. In a matter of 2 minutes or less...the nice lady on the phone asked for the IMEI and she gave me the code. simple as that. I am now enjoying my Blackjack 2 with T-mobile service. I hope this helps. O-yeah...I wouldve given you the code she gave me, but I threw it away.
I never used the text messaging on my blackjack,so I don't really know , but take a look at pages 121-123 of the manual.Follow this link to download the manual from Samsung.
