Question about X-10 X10 FireCracker Remote Control

1 Answer

I need to do programmable micro-dimming in x-10 on a budget, anyone know how?

I want to make a dawn simulator like this one here: http://alumnus.caltech.edu/~jimmc/dawnsim.html However I would like to have the dimmer brighten in micro steps. I will be using an led circuit which is very non-linear and I will be losing a lot of gradation, so having as many dimming steps as possible would be nice (i.e. 200 instead of 20) Ideally I would use a mini timer that starts a module like the cm11a, which sends micro brightening steps to the dimmer module. If this is not possible I could leave my pc on but this is not preferable. I would also be willing to use other standards like insteon. Thanks, jjbologna

Water Budgeting
Water Budgeting is a simple way to adjust your watering
duration to match seasonal watering needs . Water Budgeting
works by increasing or decreasing watering duration for all
stations in each program . Press the [PROGRAM] button to
select the program you wish to budget .
Adjustment range is from 10% to 200% by increments of 10% .
The default value is 100% . The budgeting will remain on the

I just purchased a Venture RX-7 reflector telescope at the thrift store. Got home and it's missing the eye piece lenses. Anyone know where I can order these? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

With an aperture of 110 mm or so, the absolute largest useful magnification with this scope is about x 220 (certainly not 375 like thay say). However at this limit the image is dim, difficult to focus, and jumps around with any vibration. A more practical limit is about x 150 or so, which is attained with about a 4mm eyepiece.

I'd suggest 3 EPs in the range 5 - 30 mm. Alternatively buy 2 EPS and a x 2 Barlow Lens (This is a magnification multiplier, placed between the scope and EP, to double the magnification of that EP). A 10 mm Plossl EP and a 30-32 mm will give a good spread with the 2 x Barlow.

Even tho the scope is a budget model, a better lens will get the most out of it. . You will soon want a better one.

When hitting the next/on/off button, it dims the lights vice turning them off???

The EJ500 is rated for incandescent (resistive) bulbs only, and not LED CFL etc.
Max distance between light and timer is 100 feet and wire cannot be underground.
Replace with ST01 timer, or Ei600 timer... these timers are rated for any load (resistive or inductive), and are programmable or dawn-dusk... 7 day... single-pole or 3-way

You will be in U code clear.
Press 'execute' on the screen.
The machine should reboot.
It may start to work again.
If not you will need to replace either SRAM chip or the main board.
