I press the start button and the fan starts at full speed for 5 sec then stops for 5 sec this happens 3 times then a final beep at the end of the third attempt, the button blue light stays on
SOURCE: At Start up, beeps several times, won't boot.
This could be an overheating processor problem, dependant on the motherboard and what the beeps mean. The fan speeds up to cool it down, there may be dust collected in the heatsink on top of the processor, check it and gently brush off dust. Check that the vents on the side are atleast 6 inches clear of anything for good circulation. To see if it is an overheating thing, remove both sides of pc and run it in an open space to see if the same thing happens. While you have the side off just check your memory and other peripheral cards are all seated correctly and not loose.

One thing u can do also. Open your system case, remove cmos battery clean cmos battery and then insert like same. And restart your system. Other wise check power connections voltage. If it is ok then definitely it will wirk.

Hi,
You can restore the "menu" of the "startup" to how it was before.
The idea is to reset the CMOS/BIOS to the original factory settings. There are 2 ways of doing this:
1. Is to hit F2 again and look for Default Settings, click on that, save and exit; or
2. (Preferably), open your PC and look for the reset jumper (3 terminal
with 2 shorted via a jumper). This is normally located very near the
backup Lithium battery. Temporarily, move the jumper to the opposite
pair and replace back to original position after a couple of seconds.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need additional information..
Good luck and kind regards.

The three beeps shows the Memory Module Test and that symbolise that the memory module is having a problem and to my knowledge when there is a problem with the memory then you have to open the casing and remove the memory module and clean the slot very well and if slot in back and the memory do the same change the to the second memory slot if it happens there again then you change the Memory module.
ok
rate this solution.
SOURCE: HP dx5150 Microtower PC won't start up just beeps
That's what's called a POST beep code. The HP DX5150 beep code info can be found at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=447468&prodTypeId=12454&objectID=c00868914,
but for your benefit: 5 beeps means you have a memory problem. Take out the DIMMS (memory sticks) and reseat them. Try to boot. If you get the POST code again, you have bad memory (unlikely, but could also be a bad FSB on the motherboard). If you have more than one memory stick, remove one, try to boot, if you get the error, put it to the other memory slot, try to boot...then do the same procedure with the other stick. If you can get it to boot on one stick, you know the other is bad.
