SOURCE: fantom drive is not being detected. Shows a solid

Since you've already tried different cables and computers, that eliminates a lot of things. Are there any configuration switches?

Possibly a cable or connector has come loose within the unit, particularly the edge connector that connects to the drive itself. If the unit is under warranty, try that first, espcially if you don't have important files that could be lost on the drive if you had to send it in for repair or replacement.

If you open it up, re-seat the connectors --- push them firmly into the drive PC board. If possible, remove each and put it firmly back into place. If that doesn't fix it, something is probably burned out and it is probably not something one can handle without access to factory replacement parts.

SOURCE: I can not locate a driver for my Fantom Titanium

Your device should not need drivers Fte Fantom/Titanium drives are fully supported by both Windows and Mac OS's.
Try replacing the cable or using a different USB port.
Sorry I cannot be of more help, The drive itself may be damaged, You can test this by physically removing the drive itself from the case and installing it internally to your system....If the drive functions properly, then the problem is within the board inside the casing.

SOURCE: I have a clicking 500GB

Hello, if you mean clicking as in making a clicking sound then I am sorry. Your drive may have suffered an impact that caused damage to the boot sector and master boot record. This prevents it from initializing in my computer. You can try to recover your data using recovery software or send it to a recovery specialist.
I hope this helps, thanks for using FixYa.

My drive is not showing up under my computer. it is showing up with a ! under device manager...tried to update driver by right clicking through device manager but no change

First go to the manufacturer site and download their latest driver for your version of windows.
Then right click the driver and click uninstall, in the prompt window there is sometimes (tho not always for some odd windows reason) a small box that will say 'delete the driver files', check that box.

Reboot your system and then run the installer you just downloaded.

(you can also have the USB Drive plugged in after you have uninstalled the driver then reboot and see if windows will auto-install the driver for you from its driver database)

My mac G4 not recognize my 500GB external FantomDrive. HD light is on but Mac can't see it!

If you bought it from a friend, then ask them to reformat it for you as a FAT32 partition. Mac can not see NTFS, which most Windows users use since you get more space on the drive.

If it is brand new and your G4 isn't recognizing it, then I would return it for a new one. I don't trust things that aren't working out of the box, especially when they charge so much for things.

Hi, my dogs knocked my Fantom Titanium-II TFD500C16 drive off my desk and it fell to the floor on its side (no bounce, just a flat drop). Now it will turn on but it does not mount. No click of death, just...

After opening it up, was the 500GB disk-drive WARM or COLD to the touch? If WARM, the drive was spinning. If COLD, check that the drive is getting "power" from your USB port, or from the AC adapter.

Can you remove the disk-drive, and temporarily connect it to another computer, to see if it is a problem with the enclosure and/or the external power-supply, rather than just the disk-drive?

Is the disk-drive still under warranty ?
Original manufacturer's warranty?
Extended warranty purchased from the retail store?
Extended warranty offered by your credit-card company?

Drive is not switched on

check the input power switch on the rear of the unit...
It should be on 240V. Turn off the computer, then move the switch back and forth a couple of times... set to 240V. this assures the coorect input power to the external drive.

Secondly, move the USB port to another USB port on your computer. If it works fine, then it is a bad USB port.

Third, check the device driver in device manager on your software. try updating the driver... This solves a potential driver issue.

Good Luck,

Jeff

Drive not being recognized

Have you tried this in another PC with, say, WinXP? If it worked then it may be 1 of 2 problems:
1) Driver Issue- you may use a compatible driver and not necessarily a "Fantom" driver. WinME needs drivers for these devices unlike WinXP
2) The USB port is not giving enough power to the drive for it to run (a problem common in older PCs). I have an external USB harddisk that needs to use 2 USB ports in my old Dell laptop since 1 USB port can't supply the power it needs. The cable should have a dual-USB jack on one end, this is so you could use the power from the other USB port.

Hope this helps
