Reset ink cartridge

Unfortunately you can't....

The ink level indicator cannot be manually re-set in the newer HP, Lexmark or Dell integrated ink cartridges, thus making it not usable. The OEMs all leverage 'fusible links' in the nozzle plate (internal to base of ink cartridge) which physically blows the resistors as the original ink is consumed...thus resetting the ink cartridge's ink level monitoring capability is simply not possible. The ink tracking feature is only available with a brand new ink cartridge.

However, losing this feature is not necessarily significant, because the ink level indicator usually has 20%-30% ink remaining when it shows "low on ink". Therefore, the warning has limited value, because customers who prematurely replace their cartridges when they see the "low ink" message are wasting a lot of residual ink.

Refer to any of the following videos which cover this 'low ink' subject in detail:
http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=396 (HP 60/61 Low Ink)

I have replaced black ink cartridge 73N message on screen says Error i press ok to proceed message goes back saying replace ink cartridge?

The main problem in using the latest Epson printers, is the ink replacements. Ink cartridges like 73N has its own ink reseter (the little chip in front of the cartridge). Once you replaced the ink without using the right procedures, for example you have a 10% remaining ink level on one of the cartridge, and you replaced it without using the setup menu and selecting the replace ink cartridge, even though the cartridge is new, the printer will read the replaced cartridge as a 10% ink level cartridge. When the remaining 10%, drops to 0%, your cartridge will read as an empty cartridge. The chip on the cartridge is registered as an empty cartridge.
-try to replace the ink reseter or try to clean the cartridge chip then put back the ink.

How to reset printer canon 8180

1.Attain an ink cartridge chip resetting device from a computer electronics retail store or an online retailer. These portable devices resets the cartridge chip so your printer recognizes the cartridge as being full.

2.Remove the cartridge from the printer by opening the top tray and taking the cartridge out of the carrier holder.

3.Line up the pins on the resetting device and the chip on the ink cartridge, then connect them together, making sure the connection is firm.

4.Hold the resetting device and ink cartridge chip in place, for about 10 seconds, until the LED light on the device turns green. This means the cartridge was successfully reset. Afterward, remove the device from the cartridge.

5.Place the cartridge back in the printer's ink cartridge carrier holder and print a test page.

Refill cartridges - need to reset ink level monitors

I must tell you that Dell uses sensors in the ink cartridges and the printer. So one the ink cartridges is low on ink, sensor on ink cartridges will show as low and if you get it refilled, there is no way to reset the sensor to full since Dell does not want customers to use Refilled ink cartridges. However if you are looking for Low cost ink cartridges they I would suggest you to purchase Standard Capacity ink cartridges from www.dell.com/supplies. they are almost half the price for hi capacity ink cartridges.

Continuous ink supply system for epson r285. Printer will not recognise the cartridges as full. have used the reset button on the cartridge but still no luck. any ideas?

Resetting the Epson Ink Monitoring System -
Even though the CFS maintains a constant level of ink in the cartridges, the Epson monitoring system will signal that the cartridges are empty after a cartridge full of ink has been used. This ink level information is stored on the Intelligent cartridge chip. These cartridge chips have to be reset with out lifting the cartridges. This is done with Inksupply.com Auto Reset Chips. On older Epson printers, before the Intelligent cartridge, it is done mechanically by removing and re-inserting the Inksupply.com switch activators. CFS cartridges must be reset without lifting them.
Previous Reset Methods -
The resetting methods have evolved over the past couple of years. First the Swedish Reset method was used, then the Equalizer Program, then the F-16 Chip Resetter, and now the Auto Reset Chips.

Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Ink low error

Hi there the ink cartridges are designed to be used once. Most of these new ink cartridges have a set chip on it once you have installed a new cartridge it registers that a new one has been installed and resets the ink counter for that cartridge. When you refill the cartridge it doesn't reset the chip.

I don't know how to reset the chip but the best suggestion I can offer is to purchase a compatible cartridge that has been reset.

Thanks J
