I was just given the printer. It had been kept clean (wrapped in plastic) for several years, with the ink cartridge and battery stored separately, so neither would leak & ruin the printer. My friends found the printer, but forgot where they put the battery. Can anybody point me in the right direction? I've contacted Canon & received nothing in response.

My 1st brand new cartridge and ink tanks did not work. I took them out and put in my other new ink cartridge and ink tanks, and now it works fine.

Try cleaning the nozzle using the software that came with the printer, if it's been a while since you have printed, try cleaning the head with a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol.

Hi, I have the same printer. There is no such thing as a special chemical added to the ink. The cartridge has a memory chip and remembers the number of droplets used by each cartridge. This is Canon's way of getting you to buy THEIR INK at outrageous prices. You need to reset the ink level indicator on each cartridge that you refill. Then be sure to refill the ink cartridge before it gets too low. Check out a CIS system that are available for this brand of printer. Don't buy into this special bogus ink story.

YES. THERE ARE SEVERAL USB-PARALELL CABLES CABLES IN THE MARKET. JUST CHECK IN THE WEB OR YOUR HARDWARE STORE. PRICE SHOULD BE AROUND 15 TO 20 US DOLLARS, DEPENDING ON BRAND, QUALITY, ETC.
SOME OF THE (MOST) BRIG A DRIVER CD.
ONE THING YOU SHOULD HAVE IN MIND IS THAT WHEN INSTALLING YOU BJC-80 IT WONT PRINT UNLESS YOU GO TO PRINTER PROPERTIES, PORTS AND UNMARK "BIDERECTIONAL COMPATIBILITY", THE GO TO ADVANCED OPTIONS AND CHECK ON "PRINT DIRECTLY TO THE PRINTER", OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. (SORRY ALL MY SOFT IS IN SPANISH...) RESTART THA COMPUTER AND ENJOY. I HAVE A BJC-70 AND A BJC-80, USE THEM ON XP SP2 AND VISTA. BOTH WORKING FINE. DO NOT EXPECT SPEED PERFORMANCE. GOOD LUCK
