Unless you've found a VERY rare 4GB SD card, your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. The 610 will not work with SDHC cards. Try using an SD card, 2GB and smaller.

SOURCE: Blank Screen and faulty shutter blades

I found out the hard way that you should never use alkaline batteries in a Digital Camera. I thought my camera had a fundamental flaw (power kept going off whenever I tried to take a photo or record a video and the shutter blades half closed) even though it was only 2 months old. I nearly wrote it off but all along the problem was that I was using alkaline batteries, which incidentally were enclosed with the camera in the box!! Once I switched to NiMH (Nickel) batteries the camera worked fine and the fault completely vanished! These NiMH batteries are avaiable in most electrical shops i.e currys/comet in the UK. They must be charged before use. They are more expensive than alkaline batteries (£8-£9 for 4) but as they are rechargable they last a long time.

SOURCE: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 SD Card Reading Issue

Plug you camera into USB. Go to My Computer and find a drive device named External Drive or USB Storage etc. Click on this and you should see a folder named DCIM (digital camera EXIF standard Digital Camera IMage folder. This is your cameras memory card.

Click on this and find a subfolder(s) named according to manufacture. For Panasonic it would be 100_PANA or maybe 101_PANA. These are you picture folders. Click on one to find pictures. Drag and Drop folder to computer to download them.

SOURCE: Pictures Readable on Camera, but NOT on computer

I found the solution to the problem. Connect the camera with the cord supplied. Do not open Finepix. Open Photoshop if you have it and go to file>import>via f31 or f30 and choose the pictures you want to import. Done !!!!!

SD Card Problems with Vivitar Vivicam 5118!

What size is the memory card. If it's larger than 4GB then it won't work in the 5118.
Try using another card. Don't format it in your computer but do format it in the camera before trying to take pictures.

Downloading from the CD provided with the Digital video camcorder is unsuccessful

You don't need the Vivitar software. The best way to download videos from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files.

I recently bought the vivitar 7024 and bought an sd card lexar multi use 4 gb. For some reason when I take photos and try to look at the pics it says no file exist. But when I take the sd card out and I...

Apparently, you have pics on the camera's internal memory. Your card won't work until those pics are gone. Here's how...with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert your card and it should work.

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

I have a vivitar video recorder model no 840 xhd. can you tell me what memory card to get for it. the hand book says I need a standard SD card upto 32GB.but most card have other numbers or letters after...

It can use MMC cards or SD cards or SDHC cards up to 8GB in size.

SD cards top out at 2GB. 4GB and larger cards are technically SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards.
