Sometimes, the cursor will stop responding without warning. No note from the computer pops up or anything, the cursor just stops.
Replugging in the mouse doesn't work, but restarting the computer does.
The thing is though, I don't want to restart the computer every time it does this.

Re:
The issue may not necessarily be with the mouse. Are you able to use the keyboard once the mouse freezes? If you not even able to use the keyboard, there is some application installed on your computer or a virus due to which the mouse freezes. If, in case, the keyboard works even though the mouse is stuck, try changing the USB port or try a different mouse.
Please revert back with any other observations.

If you are using an external mouse maybe thats whats clicking
Otherwise you could popup the keyboard up and disconnect mousepad ribbon(the small one) and see what this does for you
i have the same problem with my HP Pavilion DV4 they were unhelpful on the phone about it. It's been happening with this computer since I bought it. The cursor will just jump around randomly for a few minutes being unresponsive. Then go back to normal.
Try another keyboard and mouse then repost your findings. If it still does not work the ports on your system may be failing and you can try a usb keyboard and mouse
Have you tried the Mouse with another computer?
If you did and it worked, my guess would be a driver issue.
If you did and it didn't work there may be a problem with the mouse.
If you haven't the please do so and let me know what your results are so I can try to help you further.
