yes, you must use the setup menu and assign the optical input to the input you are using. Some receivers have a "input mode" switch. If this one does, you only ned to press it until it says "optical". If you have a owners manual, it will decribe all the settings that need to be made to accomplish what you need.

hooked up ps3 to amp works great! trying to hook up 2nd blueray player, with 2nd fiber chord. i have it pluged in to dvd port on amp , can"t get no sound ! wat to do ?
