Canon Multipass F50 Printer

The black ink port on the printer is not drawing ink. The cartridge is full but the ink is not being pulled. I have used a swab to clean the area but that has not helped. Also, I have purchased a new ink cartridge and this did not work either. Is there something else that I might try to do.

F50 prints in the color mode but does not print black ink. I have used warm water to soak the print head but the problem remains.

my printer wont draw the black ink and after cleaning and reinstalling the cartridges I went to align the print heads and the alarm light continues to flash and the printer wont align. Since I cleaned the print heads I am getting no ink at all when i print. I was getting the other colors?

I have the same problem! It won't print in black at all, but it will in blue ink.

  • doggyfire836 Mar 09, 2009

I soaked the area where the ink comes out and ran water through the black ink hole but nothing happened. I still can't print in black and now it says that one of my inkjets are empty when it is clearly full. I've changed the ink twice now and I don't want to change it again. It's like throwing money into the ocean! What do I do???

I have a Canon Multipass F80 which sometimes has this problem, especially if I haven't been using it for awhile. Usually what works, I take out the printhead, removing the cartridges first. Get a shallow dish of hot water and soak the area where the ink is emitted until the old ink has been soaked off, also, will swab with alcohol to hasten the process, repeat a couple of times until the water is clear. Dry well, make sure the cartridges you reinstall are not "old" so they will still flow ok. Usually this solves the problem. By the way, I would rather do this than by a new cheapy, because this printer will accept 3rd party cartridges. The new printers with the "chip" will not use 3rd part cartridges.

The printhead might be clogged. you can try to execute cleaning into the printer driver utility. notify me if this solves your problem or not.

The same 4 bulk inks

The bad news: Canon does not make any new printers that use those ink tanks. Their line of new consumer printers is the PIXMA series. None of these printers uses the BCI-3 series of ink tanks. I am sorry for the bad news,.. The good news: I have personally been successful in finding used, operational printers for $1 to $5 from local thrift stores and for a little more at local "Recycled, Used, Computer" type of stores. You may even try craigslist and put out a wanted ad for the models below,... anyway I hope this helps you out.
Here is a list of models that use all of the BCI-3e series of Black and Color tanks
Color Printers: i550, s400, s450, s500, s520, s530d s600, s630, s630 Network, s750, all BJC-3000 Series
Multifunction Printers: MultiPass F30, MultiPass F50, MultiPass F60,MultiPass F80
Other Color Printers (partially compatable) i560 & i860 (only uses the BCI-3 black tanks,..but BCI-6 for colors)

My Canon Multipass F50 has a "check printer" error and won't print. The ink cartridges will not move when you open the door (as if to replace). It won't even turn off to cycle it to clear the error,

I had a similar problem. Go to this page http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/29693 and try the codes they suggest to reset the count for the waste tanks. Good luck.

While printing photos my printer has white vertical lines

Sounds like you need to re-align the print cartridge . The reason the text comes out ok is probably because it is only using the black cartridge for text. The color cartridge is the one that's out of alignment. You may have some sort of Cannon utility running in the task bar that will allow you to easily allign the print cartridges. If not, go to the main "Printers and Faxes" window, RIGHT-click on the printer and select "Properties". You should be able to find a button in the properties that's labeled something like re-align print cartridges. It will print out a series of test pages and ask you to select the set of lines that looks the straightest and type it in. It's a good idea to do this every time you replace a cartrige. Hope this helps, If I was able to FixYa, please remember to rate me. Thanks.

check the Canon Knowledge base at www.canontechsupport.com, it may be the printhead or unit itself.
