Question about GE 27996 Twin Cordless Phone

Answering service Ilost my instruction manual and somehow my phone is speaking in Spanish on my answering service and I need ton switch in back to English so that I can set the time and date stamp and record a message for incoming callers

Also on my phone, pressing the Forward button, like going to the next message, and holding will set back to English - when in the Spanish mode. It says " English Selected".

I have 27996 phones too. I lost my manual. Here is the website to get the manual. www.thomsonnetwork.com At the bottom type in 27996 and it will bring up a pdf file that you can download to your computer. Here are the directions for your problem. Display Language 1. Press the FLASH/program button until 1ENG 2FRA 3ESP shows in the display. 2. Use the CID/VOL (left or right arrow) button or the handset number pad to select 1 (English), 2 (French), or 3 (Spanish). The default setting is ?1ENG?. 3. Press the FLASH/program button to confirm and to advance to the next menu feature.

Press the skip button and hold for 2 seconds to toggle the language from Spanish to English. The unit will then announce "English selected".

According to the manual, you hold the SKIP button down for 2 seconds and it reverts back to English. (Don't hold it down again or it's Espanol time).

What if it is spanish and dont speak spanish so i dont know how to get it back to englixh
You can go to the menu like you always do, and since spanish is similar to english you can use parts of the forgien word to switch back to english. (or if you still remember the options in the menu, you could just scroll down as normal).

Phone now is in spanish
To resolve this issue hold down the skip button for 2-3 seconds and it will change back to English.
My phone is mfg by Thomson, go to their website
www.thompsonnetworks.com for the manual, just key in the 5 digit model number, you do not need to type in GE. Hope this solves your problem
