same problem... when turned on, it just yells a high pitch alarm.

seemed to have occured because of excess wattage demand. reset switch seems of no use. What to do ? is it dead ?

Had similar problem. Paraphrasing the warranty info sheet (with concurrance of my Geek Squad friends), our HT800s have sacrificed themselves to protect our components. They tell me it is possible for only one circuit in a home to have an electrical surge. That is why the TV in one room may "blow" and the adjoining room TV not. Bottom line: Time to buy a new surge protector.

Monster Power HT UPS 1000

sbonner:
Probably the battery of UPS. you can contact the manufacturer for the replacement of battery. Also please check the manual if you can replace it yourself.
It could be the power built in power supply, but I would check the battery first.
Regards.

check ebay for a price on the instrument cluster, unless the bike is trashed its worth a fair bit more than $2500

There is a constant ringing noise coming from the unit. Any idea how to stop this? Everything else is working fine. TV etc... picture is all ok.

If it is a loose lamination, there is no practical way to fix it. If the noise is being generated from the internal connections of the output semi's, that too is not practical to fix until after the semiconductor fails. If you have a can of cold shot, chill each component until you hear the pitch change or go away. That should isolate the component.

Rough acceleration…

Power Commander will not fix your problem. You have a problem that Ducati knows about but will not post any recalls or dealer notices. My Monster 800 Sie with 6500 miles on it had the same identical problem which one dealer could not find the answer to. The second with a more experienced mechanic and bigger shop has seen this problem many times before, mostly on 1000's. Problem is a cough through the air cleaner and missfiring between 2-4k on tach, mostly worse at constant throttle. Check your valve guides! After having a rough time tuning the bike they went right to the guides and found upper cylinder valve guides shot. Also, anyone reading this, please go online to Ducati and complain about the problem. I have had so much trouble getting this bike diagnosed and repaired that I feel I am an expert now. Do not buy anything for it until they diagnose the engine then check guides!!!
