It may seem odd but connect them to the headphone jack.

If it is a new computer, then the device-drivers for your computer should have automatically been installed.

Try the speakers on some other computer, to see if the speakers are working at all.

Try some other speakers on your computer, to see if your computer's audio-card is the problem.

The power button on your speakers is broken- possibly from friction due to heavy usage. Unfortunately, there is no way to really fix this that is worth your time- if you still have it under warranty, take it to where you bought it, or give Logitech a call to get them replaced. If you don't, it may be time to search for a new set. While it's more expensive, I would recommend the Logitech Z-313 or Z323 if you want a decent replacement. They will sound better than the R20s, too.

There are two possible methods of adjusting the bass and treble output to your Logitech R20 speakers:
1. Hardware - if you feel like experimenting or working with electronic gadgets, you can connect an external preamp with tone control or graphic equalizer between the PC and the input of the speakers/amp; and/or (probably the easiest)
2. Use a software (to listen to your music files/medium) that has a virtual equalizer such the old MusicMatch Jukebox or as an add-on/plug in.

There is a lot problems, arise from this particular hardware, you can RMS your product, Subwofer for a change for other if has warranty, or buy another sub, from any Radio Shack or other store. may be the insider split sound board if bad, or fried.
try any other brand like Sound Blaster Speakers. for 2.1 speakers.

probably "+" you need to check the polarity of the speakers, there should be something like this near where you plug in the power adapter: the above symbol would mean "+".
