White lines down the screen

When i play a video or even just normal tv there are 2 white lines down the screen and black screen either side of it! please help as i not no what im doing!! beckie

Hey buddy, you have switched ON the TEST SIGNAL switch at the back of the VCR. Pish it to TEST SIGNAL OFF.

What you are seeing is the VCR generated TEST Signal. It is used to enable you to tune into a correct channel.

Blue screen with no sound means you have dirty video Heads.
get a good Wet Type Cleaning cassete, and use as per instructions.

Hi i have a telefunken tv it plays normal but it has black strips on the screen from the middle to the bottom,what could be the problem

PLASMA seems to be what you are describing...
(even Sears sells those parts).

There are some packs... sometimes a mere reseat will fix the problem...

Problem is... you can do way more damage without ESD protection... & ruin the entire set...going in carelessly.

Please do look at the anti-static wrist band
(even tampatec admits he smoked some stuff with a tiny STATIC spark...!!).

Why GE TV plays color DVD/VCR tapes in black and white

Some inputs on tvs won't process the color signal. Try one of the other inputs. Mine does the same. If u have already used the working ones on something else, U will need a switch to select one or the other available at Radio Shack if u can find one.

Check first your dvd player settings if it is in PAL or NTSC.

Theres a line threw my tv.

It has a problem in the vertical sweep circuit that puts a nonlinearity in its output and you see the glitch in the normally gradual sweep as a line. Since a hit upside the set seems to help, you should just resolder the whole vertical circuit area (doesn't take long) and see if that cures it. If not, start replacing the electrolytic capacitors in that area.
