Hp laser jet m1536dnf MFP won't send fax comm error 388

New printer and we can't send out faxes (error code comm error 388) but we can recieve faxes any idea's?

You can start by making sure that the photocopy is working, this is to ensure that the scanner is working. Next, try to isolate the issue if this is only happening to only one fax number? If all of these have negative results, I suggest for a hardware reset. Follow the steps for reset found here, How to Reset the HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer. Goodluck :)

The scanner in your FAX is nothing working -- i.e., "100%-black" or "100%-white", and so what is transmitted is what the scanner has scanned, improperly.

Check phone line. use a normal phone and plug into the same phone wall socket that the MFP is using, do we have a dial tone? Do we have a noisy line, any buzz or crackel will cause issues

If there is no dial tone ring line supplier, If it is noisy line do the same

Also check phone line is plug into "line" socket in the back of machine not "ext'

Also check no prefix is required to dial out, unit needs its own phone line..

Also try using resolution of fax as standard not fine, this requires less info to go threw the line

In Australia we have a thing called folds (fax online diag service), basicly it is a fax number you ring and the phone company who own the line send back a report, most times the issue is noisy line or no line available

you must resset ur fax machine at ur connected device ,or via computer , ur fax machine is giving u problems becz of some propertise built in had changed, so resset is best option

Sending fax for hp all in one indicate Comm Error 388

Error could be caused by the fax machine that you are sending to.
So you can receive faxes, but can't send them. Is it just the one number that causes the error, or is it all faxes sent that cause the error?
What I like to do on fax troubleshooting calls, is to call the phone company that the site is using. Tell them that you are having fax problems, and ask them to test the line.
