Absolutely! I too have a large dog and we installed a pet door for her over a year ago and she loves it. We bought our doggie door online from America's Pet Store. I will send you the link to the extra-large pet doors.

What are the advantages of using a dog stroller?

Some dogs, depending on age/breed get tired after long walks and simply sit down and refuse to continue on. Dog strollers are a great solution to this problem.

My Great Dane is 32 inches. Where can I find a dog house that will be big enough for her to be comfortable?

Great Danes are wonderful dogs but given that they can grow up to 36 inches, they often don't fit in regular dog houses. I came across a Special Dog House website which has a page about Great Danes and their needs. http://specialdoghouses.com/ar/great-dane-dog-houses.php

What are the advantages of buying a pet playpen for my new puppy?

Buying a pet playpen will allow your puppy to run around and have space to play (assuming you buy one that is big enough), without letting him go crazy with your furniture. Playpens can be a great alternative to putting your pet on a leash.

I am looking for a pet door for my dog to use, but we only have sliding doors. Can anyone recommend a good brand that makes pet doors for sliding door installation?

Our neighbors recently installed a pet door in their sliding doors and it seems to be working out great. I got the information for you from them. Here is the site they used -

Why should I install a pet door?

I can give you a few reasons as to why you should install a pet door:

  • it is great if you have limited mobility, your pet can go in and out as they please
  • it is a great fire escape for your pet
  • pet doors allow your animal the ability to use the bathroom whenever necessary

Is it difficult to train a pet to use a pet door?

Generally, no. Using a pet door tends to come naturally to most pets. It can take your dog/cat anywhere from seconds to two weeks to learn how to use the pet door. If they do not seem to get the hang of it, try coaxing your pet through the door with a treat. Never push your pet through the door or they may be hesitant to use it in the future.

Why should I get a manual pet door as opposed to an electronic one?

Although electronic pet doors are a great invention, they can be quite expensive and can sometimes malfunction (like any electrical tool). Manual doors are reliable and cost efficient. The only time I would recommend buying an electrical door would be if you live in an area where there are a lot of stray cats or raccoons.

How do electronic pet doors work?

Most electronic pet doors come equipped with an attachment to put on your pets collar. This is a sensor that can work on most electronic doors within a 3 foot range. The great thing about these doors is that after you dog/cat has gone out, the door will lock itself automatically. This prevents stray animals from entering your home, as well as pets that you don't want leaving to get outside.
