Pioneer Rear Projection TV problems

Pioneer Rear Projection TV. We brought one secondhand tonight, it seemed to have the red light at the front, but wont turn on. When power was unpluged and pluged back in, the red light came on, then went green, then back to red. I checked the power voltage on the back, was turned to 220 (its ment to be 240v here in NZ) tried it again, there was a pop, then a green spark\light inside the back, and now no red light or anything?

I have managed to find about 9 fuses (glass ones) inside the TV. The main power one had blown (it was black) the rest seem fine. there is a second fuse (says fuse2) that I pulled out, and tried it in were the other had blown. Turned tv on and the red light comes on, but pushing the 'on' button, it just 'clicks' in the back. I tried putting the fuse back were it came from (fuse2) but it wont let me now. The fuse is T6.3AL250V, the same as the fuse1. It gives me a 'pop' even with the tv unplugged from the wall. Now I cant get the fuse back in lol.

A 240 ac voltage appliance will run happily on 220 volts but ther is obviously a fault as the green spark was possibly a fuse blowing
ie main fuse as power is not reaching the tv

Thank you Kevin. So I should find the fuse (Do you know where inside it would be?) and replace it first? If I do that, then the TV does what it did before (red light, then green light, then back to red - sounds like a ticking sound when it does this) then it stays on red and wont turn on.

SOURCE: Pioneer SD-532HD5 Projection Screen TV won't turn back on.

the problem with pioneer projection tvs is that when they made the boards they never used enough solder for the circuits and you get cracks in the runs. thats why heat and cold will effect it. I had the same problem and I took out the board and resoldered every track I could and it works good now but my remote wont work if anyone has any info or prints to this tv please post on here

This and a few other models like it have one real common issue:

they develop from age and heat bad solder connections all over the power board (rather large board).

My experience with them is the fix usually is remove rear cover and follow power cord to power board (a lot of plugs to mark) and remove that board----then solder every single connection on the board which by the way has some special fuses on it.

Red shadows of words on screen of projection TV

you have to go into the menue, and go under video settings, under advanced, then into convergence, when you get the white lines all over the screen, follow the directions and adjust the red so it lines back up, other wise , take the front bottom panel off the tv, look for the 6 little nobs, look at the ones on the left, they should agjust the red, thrn the top one untill the red is focused back in.

no reset sequence. usually when the protection kicks in without any warning, it's the convergence ICs needing replacement.

I had the same problem which was caused by a bad solder connection on my Green CRT driver board. The fix isn't too difficult if you've had some soldering experience.

1) Determine which CRT is going out (Reg, Green, or Blue). Looking at your convergence adjustment screen will help.
2) Unplug TV
3) Remove the front panel
4) Locate the driver board attached to bottom of the bad CRT.
5) Locate the two large heatsinks on the driver board, each has a transistor attached to it.
6) Touch-up the three solder connections on each transistor. Adding some new solder helps.
