I'm building a new computer and have the Biostar P4M80-M4 motherboard. Everything is in place(power supply cables, ide, sata cable, etc.) and all wires from case are in the correct spots according to manual. I have a Seagate barracuda 7200 80gb hard drive and a cdrom connected. When you press the power button, nothing happens. Have checked diagrams and cable placements over and over. Have no idea what could be preventing the machine from firing up. Anybody know what could cause this? One thing that did happen was, when the case's power and reset buttons were pulled from the board, the fan started to go. I immediately turned the power supply off. Why would it start after removing the buttons? Thanks
Was that really all it was ? i have the same problem you had... computer not booting with this motherboard. I have tried everything !!! remove battery to clear CMOS use the jumper to clear the cmos change the keyboard, change the PSU, boot without RAM, change the RAM, put everything on a wood table (all outside of the case). Tried with all drives connected on the mobo, tried with no drives. I even changed the CPU but the other CPU i used, i wasn't sure if it was still OK tough. I checked to see if some connections were broken or something ... i'm about to try to find the 1-800 number of biostar, or send the mobo for a refund. What else could i try ?

Glad to report the problem has been solved and fixed. There was soder from the board touching the case and causing a ground fault so it wasn't booting. Thanks for the help

You may have the power and reset connectors on the right terminals, but they may need turning around, normal rule of thumb is if the markings on the connectors are on the outside, then turn them to face inwards.

Had thought of that and it has been tried both ways. Still didn't fire either way. Does this board require a floppy drive to be attached to fire up? Might be a stupid question but thought I'd ask. There isn't one attached to the board.
