These can be difficult. Is the spring still on or do you still have it? Do you have a spring hook? If you don't, go to electronics store and use it to pop the strip back on the spring.

Please open the cover and check if the carriers is coming to the center ,if not gently pull the cart carrier to the center and then power on the printer , be carefully with encoder if its damaged then you cannot use the printer...

HP OfficeJet 6110 (4 years old) makes short grinding noises during printing. Occasionally the printer stops and asks to have the door opened and the jam cleared. The problem is gradually getting worse....

Try first to clean the encoder strip. It's the clear strip behind the printhead. Either use a Q-tip dampened slightly, or small towel. Don't apply too much pressure though, it can come off and they are hard to put back.

I accidently pulled out a piece of white strip with tow blue ends. Now my printer wont turn on....I took it apart but don't know where this white strip goes...

Sounds like the encoder strip. There's a hook on one side, itgoes through a slot in the printhead, near the top in the back, and a spring to hook it on the other side. Hard to put back without taking the covers off.

Encoder strip for HP 2175 xi

Here's the solution for fixing a carriage jam on your PSC 2315xi printer. But, you said the encoder strip came off. I always understood that if the encoder strip came off, the printer was dead. I've never tried to take the encoder strip off and put it back on again to see what happens. The encoder strip is what tells the carriage where it is. Without the encoder strip, the carriage doesn't know where to go.

Purchased cartridges for the HP all-in-one 4215xi printer and cannot install the cartridges. 1st I purchased the 56/57 tri-pack and couldn't get them in the printer. Went back and purchased 27/28...

Your printer takes the HP 56/57 cartridges. When you buy new cartridges you need to remove the black clip, then remove the strip of tape that covers the print head, then the cartridge can be installed in the printer.

Hp officejet 4215 all in one

  1. Ensure that you have a two contact phone cable connected to line 1 socket of the printer and that the other end of the cable is connected to the phone jack in the wall.
  2. Perform a partial reset on the printer. To do this first remove the power supply from the back of the printer. With the power off press and hold the # and 3 keys.
  3. Plug the power back into the printer, keep holding the # and 3 keys till you see “ Partial Reset ” displayed on the printer screen.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Encoder strip have hole. How can i take it out?

Why would you want to remove the encoder strip? The strip can be carefully cleaned in place by following the instructions here.

If you really want to remove the strip (not recommended) open the lid (with the power on). Wait for the printer noises to stop, then carefully move the carriage (with the print cartridges in it) to the left. Unplug the printer power.

The encoder is held on a metal tang at the right side and a spring on the left side. Carefully grasp the encoder near the right side and pull it to the right so it can be dislodged from the tang on the right. You will need to bend the encoder slightly to unhook the end. Once it has been loosened form the right you can then release the left tang and carefully remove the encoder.

When reinstalling the encoder reverse these steps. First thread it properly through the sensor on the back of the carriage, then connect the left end to the spring, then connect the right side.

Hp g85 all in one

The "plastic strip" is the position encoder of the print head, it holds itself in place by two latches, one is fixed and the other is flexible, you have to put the encoder in the flexible latch first by holding it at an angle and then in the fixed one, probably you'll have to disassemble the MFP to have access and a better view of the parts.
