Screen now showing blue line at bottom

Great system...replaced lamp once. Starting last weekend, screen now showing "blue" light about an inch from the bottom on the right half of the screen. The blue line varies in intensity depending on scene changes. Check settings, cables, etc. with no luck. System was not moved or hit. Put it on DVD mode with nothing playing. Screen is black (as it should be) but blue line exits (just not as bright). Any ideas?

Sounds like, you have a bad optical block. Part can cost $550 to $800 + labor

This is a very common problem with this Panasonic set where half the right side is bad and the other half is good. This has been traced to a general plasma panel defect in the manufacturing precess. The panel lasts only about 1.5 years and they go bad. The only solution is to replace the plasma panel. The charges for the cost and labor will double the original prize of the TV set.Good luck.

You can try doing this, turn on the Tv and select the service menu, if that tint also shows on the menu, it's most probable to be your DMD board, but if it doesn't it might be the video board..

The failure(s) in your TV is related to a part called light engine or optical block and Sony TVs are known for these kind of failures with the video showing with different colors or lines.

it's an lcd filter fault it's betwine lamp and screen before mirror, seems like u will need to replace it but it hard to say without look at it.

It sounds like your light engine is on it way out. I would have this verified by a service center. Very costly to replace. They will probably try a new lamp first.

My picture brightness is uneven - there is a persistant bright field on my screen.
I have the exact same problem with my AE700. It a started about the same time, around 2500 hours for me. I lived with it untill I could afford a new bulb which arrived yesterday. The old bulb was still working at a 3603 hours when I installed the new one. But the new bulb didn't fix the problem for me either. I may try to take it apart this weekend and give it a good cleaning. Andy
