GSA-5169D I am going to burn to the DVD and it looks for a file that is not anywhere on the drives or included in installation software. The video plays but when recording stops process. Why?

after you have recovered your key just uninstall the program if you no longer need it

It may be the operating system has not recognized all the ports, if you operating system is now ok, go to my computer>properties>hardware>device manager, and look to bottom of the list to USB Controllers.

right click on them, and Uninstall all controllers and restart pc and see if all the ports are recognized and installed automatically.

as far as i know there are no drivers for these cd/dvd drives. i went to lg and they only have a maual listed. no firmware updates and no software available. i have never seen a cd/dvd drive cd with drivers.

you can go online and download the driver package. go to lg and click on drivers usually for free...

You got a bad laser in the drive not the laser the reads the laser that writes and this does generally happen when a dvd ram drive goes. Recommend buying a new drive as a replacment laser is upwards of $90 bucks, thanks for using fixya please do accept and rate.

That is not unusual.
Several of my CD/DVD drives are listed as CD drives.
They still play and write DVDs.
The problem is cosmetic and not worth spending time on.

Now if you are trying to play a DVD movie you are going to need a CODEC (Coder/Decoder).
Windows XP does not include a CODEC to play DVD movies.
I use Intervideo WinDVD.

There aren't any such drivers.  The drive control protocols are standardized.  Just do Windows Update a few times and make sure the thing's connected when you restart storage subsystems (pretty much a reboot; though installing Nero will of course get things going if you don't love Vista built-in tools.)

put tape on the hole on top of the tapes and you shoud be able to record. its tape on the top or pull the top off i cant remimber which one it is but this is the answer.
