HP Deskjet670C not performing as usual

The printer is several years old but always performed atho slowly at times. It worked yesterday. Today, it is spitting out sheet after sheet with one line of gibberish. I disconnected and reconnected more than once. The cartridges are new. I tried to follow the troubleshoot instructionsin the brochure but of course, there was no XP at that time. HP will not help or support this old model. There is no notification on the screen when I begin the process but the yellow light begins flashing immediately. Does anyone have any suggestions?

For whatever reason-who can tell?-this morning I pressed the on button and lo and behold, the printer grabbed 4 sheets but printed out an email I asked for yersterday. It also printed out a sheet I asked for in the scanner-TWICE- and then on it's own, it printed out the XP Printer Test Page??

I am going to "clean" and try again the normal way and by the way, the amber light is NOT ON???

Thanks for your info. If still unable to woprk properly, I will replace the cable and if this does not work, I will buy a new printer.

Second Comment: I "cleaned" the printer by pressing the Resume Button 7 times. I then sent an email to myself and was able to print it out. I then placeda picture into the scanner and successfully printed it without the amber light flashing and the printer working as before. I don't know why it needed the rest all night to accomplish this, but your assistance certainly helped and I thank you.

Here's a few steps to make sure that it's working. 1. If the printer is indeed working, turn it off, disconnect from the printer, and then turn it on. Once on, hold the "resume" button for a few seconds and it should print a self test page. 2. Clean the printer by turning the printer on. Press and hold the POWER button. Press the RESUME button seven times. Release the POWER button. 3. Then there's running a diagnostic-test, of which, there are 2 ways: Regular: Turn the printer on. Press and hold the POWER button. Press the RESUME button five times. Release the POWER button. Extended: Turn the printer on. Press and hold the POWER button. Press the RESUME button twelve times. Release the POWER button. I've been reading up a lot about this problem and it seems that maybe 1 out of 10 people can actually get this to work on XP. There are no additional drivers available for this printer other than the ones that come available with hte installation CD. It's HP's way of telling you to buy another one of there printers...

Can i make copies witht he brother hp 2040 printer

A printer would produce print outs of documents in versions known as hardcopies(paper). However, multifucntion devices usually would have an area on the printer that allows to feed in an aready printered document to be reproduced several times into several hardcopies(paper copies). Unless that, the printer has multifunction capabilities, in which instance would be in writing specified as capable of performing printing, copying and several feature functions, it would be unlikely to perform copies from an already existing document.

HP office jet 4315v No power. Yesterday I printed several times. Today there's no power to the printer. I have pressed the off-on button, the printer does not power up.

Might be the power cord, try using a different one. I that doesn't work then you might need to try and plug it in a different outlet.

If that fails, replace the printer.

Remove and check right cartridge (black ink)

I have discovered how to perform a full reset of the HP PSC 1610, which clears all the internal memory, thereby fixing the "remove and check right cartridge" problem.
To perform a full reset of the HP PSC 1610:
1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Press and hold the OK and CANCEL buttons on the front panel keypad.
3. While still holding the buttons, plug the power cord back in. Continue to hold the buttons for two seconds, and then release them.
4. After a few seconds, the screen will display the message “Deriv Clear” confirming that the reset is done.

I have discovered that the HP PSC 1610 all-in-one printer has a hidden diagnostic mode, which lets you do several interesting things.

To enter the hidden diagnostic mode of the HP PSC 1610:
1. tap both arrow keys simultaneously.
2. tap the left arrow key.
3. tap the OK key.
4. At this point, you have a choice to make. If you want to enter the "Service" menu, tap the left arrow key. If, on the other hand, you want to get into the "Underware" menu, tap the right arrow key.

There is a menu option in the "Underware" menu called "printer-mech button tap", from which you can initiate any of HP's "tap tests," so called because, on the early HP printers whose onboard user interface was limited to two physical buttons, you would tell the printer which diagnostic test you wanted it to perform by holding down one of the buttons while tapping the other button a certain number of times. In the HP literature, the various diagnostic tests that the printer can do are named according to the number of button taps required to initiate the test. Hence, HP might refer to "tap test #6", "tap test #9", and so forth.
I am not sure what all of the various tap tests do, but I would imagine there is probably a tap test that resets the internal counter responsible for making the printer reject the cartridges.

Laserjet 1200

I would recommend that you perform a power cycle by unplugging the printer for 60 seconds then restarting your computer, logging back in....then plug your printer back into your computer, If that does not work I would also try going to www.hp.com clicking Software & Driver Downloads on your right corner of your browser of the HP website then typing in the product which is "Laserjet 1200" then choose your current operating system then download the full driver device.

Use the scan commands from the HP device manager, not the printer.
