When I got the car it would start normal. I tried the remote starter and it started. The lady who I bought the car from said: Click the ignition w/key twice forward, then tap the brake. Ok cool. The car runs. But, I want to have it start with the key. I don't know how but sometimes the key works. When it doesn't I have to use the remote. Sometimes it says to wait 3 minutes before I start it. Going nuts here.

These issues can both be solved through programming. The crank time needs to be extended and the door locks (may) need to be set to double pulse. Can you unlock the doors by pressing the unlock button twice within one second?
Please read all the way through to familiarize yourself with the process before beginning.
Let's try the programming; you will need the vehicle key and the remote. The control/programming switch is located in the antenna on the windshield.
Turn the key on then off; press and hold the control button on the antenna to select the menu. One honk of the horn/flash of the parking lights indicates menu one(1). Now, press and release the button five (5) times (door lock pulses), then press and hold the button. While holding the control button on the antenna, press the lock button on the remote once. You should hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. The system is now set for double pulse unlock. DO NOT RELEASE THE CONTROL BUTTON.
We will now advance to the third menu; release the control button, immediately press and hold the control button. After three seconds the system will begin to advance to the next menu. You will hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Continue to hold the control button to advance to the third menu. You will hear three horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Now, press and release the control button three times, then press and hold the control button. While holding the control button, press and release the lock button on the remote. You should hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Two flashes/horn honks is .8 seconds cranking time. Release control button. Turn ignition on to exit programming/learn routine. Test the system.
If after testing the system , you require a longer cranking time; re-enter the programming/learn routine, menu three, option three and press the lock button on the remote once to advance to one(1) second cranking time.
The programming/learn routine exits if the ignition is turn on, the control button is pressed too many times or there is no activity for 30 seconds.

If the parking lights are flashing when you attempt to start the vehicle, it is an visual notification to you as to the reason WHY it doesn't start.
Six flashes of the parking lights is (-) or (+) shutdown and seven flashes is neutral safety shutdown. These are the most common reasons for remote starter malfunction. The (-) shutdown relates to the hood pin switch. A malfunction in this area occurs when the hood pin switch fails to make contact with the hood when closed. Adjusting the pin or the bracket it may be attached to will solve the problem. The (+) shutdown relates to brake wire. Unless you have your foot on the brake while attempting to remote start, the issue could be with the brake switch or the wire making contact with 12 volts during remote start operation. The neutral safety shutdown relates to either the toggle switch or, if this is a new installation, the thin black with white stripe wire NOT being connected to ground. If your remote starter has worked before and, is not working now, the issue will be with the toggle switch. The toggle switch will be located (usually) under the dash near the left kick panel. The kick panel is where your left would rest when driving.

This is a common problem for remote start units that are installed utilizing the virtual tach (tachless) mode for RPM sensing. For the most part, it is a convenience for installation but it is not the most reliable. The only way to fix this is to have the tach wire of the remote start system connected.
