SOURCE: KW-AVX710 Screen stays black (off) untill I hit the open button

So I decided to verify all the connections after I got frustrated with it. Everything was correct except one wire that was on the new harness I got that for my car that was labeled "12V fused" (supposedly the key on power source). I tested it with my volt meter and it did not have power at any time, even with the key on. The constant power source wire was hooked up so that's why I was able to open the face and eject CD's and DVD's but not do anything else (like when your ignition is off). So I ran a new wire from my fuse panel and everything works now. Just like my Thermodynamcis professor says "nullius in verba" (take no one's word for it), just because the wire was labeled doesn't mean it's right! Hope this helps.....

SOURCE: JVC KW-AVX 800 "Position error"

Assuming that this is not a new install (the laser is secured with a long, thin brass screw when shipped, and this screw must be removed on installation), and the unit has worked before today, then we will troubleshoot from the "damage" perspective.

The laser isn't centering itself to start position.

This could be due to track binding (dust buildup) or just a hard jolt to the base (pothole?), but the first thing to try is a soft reset...and if that doesn't get it, then a hard-reset next.

*Assuming of course that one of the kids hasn't jammed something foreign into the slot and knocked the head off-track...it happens quite often.

Soft reset:
Most models have a tiny, recessed "reset" button that you can press and hold for 5 seconds with a ball-point pen, located under the faceplate.
This will restore factory settings, and re-center the laser.

If the error returns, a Hard reset:

Disconnect the Positive(+) cable from the car battery for at least 30 seconds, and re-connect.
You will likely lose all saved stations on the radio, but this is a last-resort to avoid removing and opening the unit.

9 times out of 10 this will solve any digital errors, and will free sticky tracks better than half of the time.

How to turn off closed captioning and keep it OFF

What's your source for the video? For video from a set-top box (Blu-ray. cable box, etc), you have to disable captioning at the source. The TV's CC control only work for OTA and unscrambled cable channels when the incoming signal goes to the RF (coaxial) ANT/Cable input. If this is your source, press the Menu button. Use the left/right arrow buttons navigate to the Preferences menu. Open this sub-menu (down arrow) and highlight the Base CC mode. Use the left/right arrows to change the current mode to Off. Press Enter and then press Exit to save and exit the menu.

The set-top box may not have an option to control the closed captions from the remote but accessed through the On-Screen Menu. On some satellite receivers that provide a signal to a primary and secondary TV. to enable or disable the captions on the second TV at the primary TV's set top box. Then both TVs will show the captions. On my IPTV box, I need to use a password from the service provider to access the Settings menu. The control for the Closed Captions are in the Hardware > Audio Settings menu.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the specifics about your devices/source. I can try to find the directions for disabling the captions for your source.

I have seen broken board inside. Have you ever pushed the front panel? If so, the board behind the control is cracked. If you are a tech, open and solder. If not, take it to a service center

I hook my antenna to the back and I'm not receiving a picture

Hi,

I'm assuming your Antenna is connected to your TV with a co-axial cable? If so, please make sure you have run the Analogue/Antenna/Air channel scan correctly:

1. Switch the TV on
2. Press the "MENU" button on the Curtis remote supplied with the TV.
3. Press the RIGHT arrow button five times to highlight the "Channel" menu
4. Press the "ENTER" button or the DOWN arrow once to open the "Channel" menu

The Air/Cable option should be highlighted.

5. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons to set the "Air/Cable" option to "Air"
6. Press the DOWN arrow to highlight "Auto Scan"
7. Press the "ENTER" button or the RIGHT arrow once to start the automatic channel scan.

When the scan has finished, the TV should automatically return to viewing mode. If not, just press the "EXIT" or "MENU" button on the remote to close the menu.

You also need to make sure the correct INPUT/SOURCE is selected on the TV:

1. Press the "SOURCE" button on the Curtis remote
2. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to highlight "TV" in the INPUT SOURCE menu
3. Press the "ENTER" button on the remote to select "TV" and close the INPUT SOURCE menu.

This should be all you need to do to watch your TV from an antenna source.

Please post back if you are still unable to get it to work and need further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric

Jvc kw-nx7000 not working after I tried to update the firmware

I just performed the update as well and ended up with the same issue. I'm hoping to drive my vehicle around to see if it will eventually detect the satellites.

I might recommend a couple of things. Not sure what JVC Support has recommended but you can try a hard reset. Button is located on the left bottom corner of the unit.

You could also attempt a factory restore. The option is located in the settings under your navigation menu.

Overall I like the unit as it seems to be a stable system., for customization and information related to what JVC considers to be propritory info absoultely sux!!! The backgrounds are hokey and screens could really use an overhaul. I have yet to find any really great solutions for working with the files and information and have started to learn on my own. Very slow going so far as I really don't want to brick the unit. If you or anybody else has a good solid recommendation other than the obvious for working into the file structure etc... please feel free to share!
