Try reentering the product key
Call microsoft and verify that your version is authentic and not pirated...
I had this problem already and it turned out althoug i had an authentic version the key i was sold with the cd was not recgoinised by microsoft. After providing my proof of purchase microsoft gave me a new key

The product key is on the folder in which the genuine software disk was shipped to the buyer. MS Service Packs do not change the key nor should they require you to reinstall the key.
You have a pirated version of XP software and even with a key it will not pass Microsoft validation. It will be quickly disabled by Microsoft and you'll be left with a black screen.
You need to get a valid copy of the software.
