My closed caption randomly turns itself on and puts a black bar on the screen with jiberish characters. It will go away if I change channels or the set off. I have tried to turn the closed caption off thru the remote menu but I get no selection to turn it off. I have unplug the set for several hours and days in an attempt to reset it to the factory mode but it did not work. How do you reset the AV-32F704 back to the factory reset condition?
I have the JVC I Art 46" TV. The Close Caption was turn on accidentally by my grandson. After lots of searching for the original remote. I called JVC Customer Support. He told me to change the Close Caption settings to CC2 and T1. That fixed the CC without having the original remote.

Noway to turn off captioning right away without the original remote. But U can unplug the tv for an hour,tv well reset itself back to original setting. The Captioning will shut off buy itself.Because captioning reqiure CC buttion on orignal remote and must manually turn on and off.
Go into the TV's closed-caption settings and turn off captioning. You'll find it's set for "text" mode right now. What's happening is that in text mode, the set blanks out the part of the screen where the text will go but there isn't any. On channels or programs where captions aren't being broadcast you don't see anything. With the captions turned off the box will go away.
Check your closed-caption settings and be sure they are turned off. If captioning is set for text mode you can have this trouble. The TV blanks out a part of the screen for the text it never gets to display. Once captioning is shut off (or set for normal caption mode if you want to use it) the black box will be gone.
On the 27" TruFlat the closed caption button is hidden within the DVD buttons. You have to press it multiple times to shut off closed caption. It seems to have multiple sources for closed captions. Press the button until no source appears on the screen. ITS CONTROLED AT THE REMOTE CONTROL - NOT ON THE ON-SCREEN TV MENUS. Good Luck
I would check and see if you have the text option on under your closed captioning. With the new digital transition the signal for text captioning has been getting messed up during broadcast here lately. If it is on i would just shut it off or go to regular closed captioning.
This is a problem with closed-captioning. What you are seeing is a closed captioning box with no captioning in it. Usually this is being accidentally transmitted by the cable company "head end". Just make sure your closed captioning function is completely turned off. if you are seeing it randomly, it may well be coming from your cable company. Is it just on certain channels?
shut off close caption. use the CC button onthe remote or go in to the menu and change close caption to CC1. this box is the close caption in TEXT(1,2) which will put on a black box whenever there is caption present.
The black box your are seeing on the screen is the box to display text. It is listed under your "cc" closed captioning setting as T1, T2 etc. Go into your closed captioning and shut off the text. You can still leave closed captioning on or off. The text system was never really used but they put it on all of the TV's.
The text mode in the closed caption is turned on.Turn off the closed caption.
I don't have the schematic in front of me, so, I will wing it.
There may be a button on the remote that says CC, if so then use that button to turn it off, if not then go to the service menu and you may have to search a bit.
Either way it's an easy fix and you can do it yourself.
If you can't find it, then, reply and I will give better instructions when I get into my shop next week.
