The error code F3 indicates an oven sensor problem. The oven sensor is most likely the failed part. The oven sensor probe must have the correct resistance readings at specific temperatures. When the electronic range control (ERC) cannot identify the correct resistance of the oven sensor or the resistance is way out of specs F3 will display.
I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your oven.

You have one of 2 problems, an open Thermocouple or a bad control panel DISCHARGE high voltage components first with no power applied prior to touching anything in the unit. Failure to discharge High Voltage Components can result in death

F3 Message and Beeping

On a GE/Hotpoint, F3 means you have a failed keypad.

If you or someone you know might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

It's at http://www.microwavedisplay.com/keypad_replacement.pdf

If you'd rather have us fix it for you, we do that for $39.95 plus parts and you can visit us via our link here on Fixya http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Keeps beeping and shows F3 but keypad not working

Ya what the ????
Not shure what to tell you, first I would see if leaving unplug for a day would solve your problem, to me sound like main board is defective, also try by opening the door a closing it a couple of time, just in cass a switch is jam open.

New microwave; loud fan when heating items

Since you say it's new, it should be under warranty. I would call GE (see your owner's manual) to get a local authorized service center. Then while you're on the phone with the service center, you can start it up and hold the phone close to it to demonstrate to the technician how loud it is. They should be able to tell you if it will be covered under warranty so you get it fixed free.
