The lens is got misallighned and so this is happening.keep the camera off and move the lens with your hand manually for a minute.in all the directions.but take care the lens is very delicate so do not put or apply pressure or any force on it.and check out it should work.if still does not works and gives the same problem.then keep the camera ON and tap the sides of the camera for a while and the check.if still does not work then two optionseither the lens is broken  internally or itthe camera needs to be opened and lens needs to be readjusted and the assembly which moves the lens has to be checked if that is cracked it needs to be replaced. thanks.

Of course! You mentioned the beach so maybe salty water or sand got inside the camera. (Salt can interfere with the electrical connections inside the camera and possibly short-circuit.) Send it back for repair to replace any damaged parts you may need. They'll send it back good as new :)

Sanyo digital camera showing lens error 1114 or 112

Hi.

If your Sanyo digital camera is not starting and you get lens error 112 or lens error 1114 prompted on display, that means that the lens is getting stuck, and cannot extend or retract fully. The controller board detects the error on startup, and shuts down after displaying the error message.
This errors usually happen because of dirt, or because the lens mechanis mis damaged in consequence of a shock.

If lens does not retract, try helping the lens back, without putting too much strenght, while you turn off the camera at he same time.
If the lens does not extend, try tapping softly the back of the camera to help lens out, while you turn off the camera at he same time.
If the camera had been exposed to sand or dust, try blowing canned air on the lens.

If this does not work, the lens assembly must be taken apart completely and re-assembed, and for that you need a camera repair shop.

Also call the number listed on the owners manual to get support from the manufacturer.

When I ucover the lens, the display shows that

That is because you have arrived back at the 'setup'.Remove your battery and memory card for two minutes, then put them back. Then select 'menu' and setup the camera again, entering the date etc. I am assuming that your battery is charged.

Displays "lens Error"

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Lens Errors 17 & 27 on Sanyo VPC-E760

My camera was showing lens error 12&25 and then shutting off. I tried gently trying to twist and pull the furthest out part of the lens and it popped back into place easily. It made a noise when it did this, and then i turned the camera off, and the lens went back in!! Completely fixed now!!

I have same problem. I turn on the camera you hear it trying to come on, shows display pic for like 3 seconds and then shuts down. If I could get the lens to retract I am sure the camera would work.

Lens stops functioning

Have you tried this same lens with other cameras? Do you have another camera body you can try? or perhaps a friend with a Canon EOS Camera? Also try the following please: Remove the lens. Look at the lens mount contacts, take a Cotton swap with some rubbing Alchol & clean the contacts very well, both on the lens and the camera body. Is your camera reading the lens aperture range correctly (at least most of the time)? Also since you replaced the PCB on the lens, isn't it under warranty? Let me know if this works. Thank you, AJ.
