Question about Whirlpool MH1150XMQ Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Microwave I was changing out the light bulb on the bottom of the microwave(forgot to unplug) and while unscrewing the bulb it cracked in my hand and made a spark. The microwave will not come back on. I checked the breaker and it's fine. I plugged another appalince in the receptacle and it's working. Did I burn up the microwave are is there a reset button or fuse that I can't find. It did have a burnt wire smell after.

Be very careful cos microwaves can kill - there is very high voltage present even when disconnected from mains. unplug from mains & leave for 1 hour. remove cabinet. there is a fuse which controls everything usually located near the transformer or where the mains cable enters. check fuse and replace. it needs to be the correct fuse for the appliance

Where is the bulb located on Russell Hobbs rhm2018

I have just done this myself on the same microwave - I know this was posted a year ago but maybe you still have it. Unplug the microwave. Remove the cover by unscrewing the screws on the rear and side. As you're facing the microwave, to the front right hand side on the top there's a black oval-ish shaped thing held in place by two metal clips (pictured). This is the light bulb. The clips easily lift up by hand, then you can gently lift out the bulb. With mine it turned out that the bulb wasn't broken it just hadn't been screwed in properly!8ada370f-1c5e-4600-8102-2c5c0b93f61c.jpg

How do you change the light bulb in a JVM 1440?

1 Unplug the microwave oven from the outlet. Wait 20 minutes for the capacitor that is inside the microwave to discharge.
2 Unscrew all the screws around the casing by turning them counterclockwise.
3 Remove the cover by lifting off.
4 Locate the light bulb in the microwave. This will be located on either the right or left side.
5 Unscrew the light bulb by unscrewing counterclockwise. Some light bulbs are held into the socket by two notches; for these you will need to gently push on the bulb and turn counterclockwise to unsecure the bulb, then pull out of the socket.
6 Place your new bulb in the empty socket and secure by turning clockwise until tight, or if the bulb is one with notches on both sides, then guide the notches into the slot on the socket, push gently and turn clockwise until clicked into position.
7 Replace the cover and screw back on. You are now done and may plug back in the microwave.

How do you change the light bulb on an electrolux built in microwave ?

It is indeed straightforward but it requires removing the 4 phillips head screws that hold the trim kit on. Then you need to remove it from the cabinet (along with unplugging the cord.) Once that is done you will need to remove the 4 black phillips head screws along the bottom part of each side, 2 phillips from the left rear and 2 security T20 screws from the right side. I found that removing the 2 screws holding the bracket on the capacitor and the front allowed me to move the light housing enough to get to the bulb. In my case the bulb had unscrewed itself. I am not a big fan of the engineering associated with this model or the labor that assembled it.

I want to change the light in my microwave. Panasonic nn-p704sw. I took apart the covr and foung the light attached to a plastic scockrt. I tried to unscrew but the bulb was tight. should i apply more...

Typically the bulb will unscrew from the socket. If you can remove the bulb and socket with the wire from the microwave (wire hanging from the microwave) you might be able to get more pressure on the bulb to turn it. Keep in mind that the bulb may have been in the oven for several years and there may be a build of grease on the treads of the bulb so it could be really stuck. Put a cloth towel around the bulb and wear gloves so you don't cut your hand if the bulb were to shatter.

Light doesn't work on my over-the-range microwave oven

Absolutely. We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

Sometimes this will also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
